Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

Bottle...klaro.

Pours a rusty reddish brown with a thin tan ring. Light carbonation and lots of lacing. Aroma of medicinal cherry flavoring. Taste is not too tart or sour. Flavors are somewhat artificial sweet cherry and not that enjoyable.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a cup. Clear red with small beige head. Aroma is nice cherry, medium body, lower carbonation, and some pretty good small-bubble lacing. Taste is tart and some cherry.

From bottle. Pours hazy brown/red. Nose of cherries, cherries and cherries. Taste is malty, very tart, biscuits, so many cherries!

nathanvc (502) - Brugge, BELGIUM - NOV 12, 2016
Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a frothy off-white head. The aroma contains malts, cherry, wood, nuts and marzipan. It tastes medium sweet and light sour. The finish is long, rather dry and yeasty. Alcohol is well hidden. Oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice variation on the regular Petrus Ales.

Stadin panimobaari oak aged tasting. From bottle. Dark brown color with a thin white head. Marzipan, ripe cherries in aroma, intense. Sweet cherries, almonds, sweetness. Long finish with hints if wood but mostly cherries and marzipan. Great stuff.

Poured into a tulip, the appearance was a dark ruddy red to almost brown color with a quickly dissipating finger’s worth of white foamy head. Concaves nicely around the sides to bubbles. Mild messy lace. The aroma starts off with a nice sweet and tart black and red cherries. Sourness is quite tame. Malts seem sour and sweet in this one. The flavor leans sweet initially and then opens up into some sour and tart cherry. Sweet cherry fruity aftertaste roping the finish in with a little bit of stickiness. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Low carbonation yields an ample amount of balance between the stickiness and soft tartness. Overall, almost a straight up fruit beer, perhaps with a hell of a lot of tart to sweet cherries rolling all about. Definitely would be a stellar go to for Summer evening dessert.
