Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

Had at Glunz Global Beer Expo XIX. Pours a clear, dark red with a minimal pink head that dissipates quickly. Had aromas of cherry, licorice, and alcohol. It went downhill from there. Tasted like cherry soda, but that was probably because there was way too much carbonation. Was not sour. Not impressed with this one.

Balanced and very easily drinkable at 8,5. Solid amount of cherries balancing a malty base. Medium body and carbonation.

Pours dark reddish brown, beige head. Aroma is really nice, full of fruits, mainly cherries. Taste is also cherries compot, sweet and just a bit sour. Malts can be felt on the aftertaste. Refreshing and nice.

An absolutely delicious beer. Just outstanding. Pours copper/brown with a fair amount of foam. The aroma is sweet caramel malt, cherries, and some character from the barrel. Overall, it smells a lot like Dr. Pepper. The flavor has the tart cherries and the sweet malt, but the barrel shows up with a lot more clarity. Oak and vanilla add to the complexity. As it warms the tartness becomes stronger, but the 8.5% ABV is never present at all. This goes down like candy.

On tap. Coca cola ruby red color with nice beige head. Sweet cherry aroma. Cherry juice, water taste. Some wood and vanilla in the aftertaste. Could be the keg was too cold, cause its very watery. Some medicinal bitterness. Hmm not really my thing.

Ruby red colored, clear, medium beige frothy head. Aroma is of some malt, light caramel, candy fruity, cherries, some light fruity tartness, doesnt really give any sourness away. Taste is medium sweet malt, fruity, strong cherries, candylike cherry, some woody notes, bit tartness but expected more, overall sweet but there is a mouthwatering finish. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation, bit sticky, alcohol is very well hidden. Less sweet and more tartness would be nice but I still like it. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

Bottle. dark ruby to brown colour. Moderate off-white head. The aroma is cherry syrup, cherry stone. Thats it. Medium body. Medium sweet taste with notable fruit tartness along. Rather tasty as a fruit beer. No relation to sour.

Dark ruddy-brown pour with a two finger chunky, oily beige head. Aroma is cherry, dark fruit, over ripe apple, caramel, a hint of stale chocolate, light nutty notes, and some fruity and floral notes. Flavor is dark caramel, lots of sweet cherry (more Ludens, than fruit), sweet bread, peppery fusel notes, light earthiness and some light pine. Medium body, syrupy entry, medium, sharp carbonation and a dry, slightly acidic finish that has a boozy slickness. Decent overall, pretty sloppy though. Lots of fusel hotness, cherry notes are like cough drops. Looks the part though, great lacing and elegantly swirly film of foam redistributed with each sip.
