Petrus Aged Red is constructed from a base of Double Brown Ale. 15% Petrus Aged Pale is added to provide a dry character to the brew and give it a slight sour essence. Finally the brewer adds fresh cherries, which are evident in the rich thick head. Petrus Aged Red is a perfect blend of sweet and sour with a cherry undertone which makes this brew remarkably drinkable at 8.5% ABV.

JeffroDH's rating

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20

A light, bubbly, ruby red pour. Aroma smells strongly of tart cherry, a bit monochromatic. That quality permeates the entire experience of this beer: cherries are up front in the flavor, and the sour follows quickly. The finish won't decide between bitter and sour, and the ale never really presents itself. Despite the criticism, it is a well-made beer with complexities that begin to present themselves toward the bottom of the bottle. Worth trying.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

God og spændende øl. Masser af friskhed og fylde. Tilpas sur. Lidt kedeligt udseende.

Bottle from Lidl as part of a 6-pack. Dark red, translucent. Small pink-beige head. Light floral and fruity aroma with a touch of oak. Taste is mostly sweet cherry with a bitter/sour nip near the end. Moderate carbonation. Surprisingly pleasant and very, very refreshing.

Kolor rubinowy, klarowne. Piana beżowa, niska, drobno i średniopęcherzykowa, trwała, lekki lacing. W smaku słodkie, średnia pełnia, słód, wiśnie, czekolada, cukier, drewno, alkohol. Goryczka niska, wysycenie średnie.

Bottle.Got confused with Blond previously so this is my definite rating of this beer. Dark brown with a cherry flavour that dominates. Bitter/sour flavour gives it an edge. Takes some getting use to but overall I really enjoyed it.

rafal_s (32) - Szczecin, POLAND - JUN 29, 2017
Very cherry aroma. Dark red colour, frothy head, not lasting for long. Medium sweetness, no sourness. Medium body, average carbonation, long fruity finish.
