COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Quadrupel is brewed with 6 different types of malts. We used nitrogen instead of CO2 for a better result. Nitrogen causes a rounder taste and a better mouthfeel.

33 cL bottle poured into a Petrus chalice. The beer is a near black with a velvety head of khaki foam. Raisin, wood, nuts, and sweet toffee. Sweet and fruity aspects stand in front of a leathery, somewhat smoky character. Thick mouthfeel, slick, and chewy. Big body and velvety mouthfeel. Far exceeded my expectations.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 17-10-2018, from Alko Arkadia, 20180113) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized, dense and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, aniseed and malts. Palate was full bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, caramel, malts, Belgian style yeast and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A different Belgian style brew. Not something I would drink again.

Bottle from Merchants. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel, yeast, booze, wood, earthy hops, good. Appearance is dark reddish brown, light brief head, clear. Taste is interesting, a bit of roasted malt, wood, dark fruit, tannins, nuts, booze, dry, different. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, nitro, nutty boozy roasty tannins aftertaste. Overall, I was expecting different because of the nitro, the flavor seems different from any Quad I've tasted too. Worth a try.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours brown with a few tan bubbles. Aroma hints of sour and definitely has darkish fruit. Med + body. There's some tartness, even a suggestion of musty wood, but dark fruit and perhaps a bit of chocolate may be the main taste contenders. It's somewhat plummy. Gets earthy - unless that's a variation on the musty wood aspect. Not totally dry and far from bitter. It's quite different from many quads. Maybe mildly tart and plummy sums things up. Plummy quads are my desire, so I'm going with that concept.

11.2 ounce bottle - $5.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a very dark burnt umber with a smallish albiet lasting beige head. Smell: Dark tinged maltiness, sniff of mulched bark lending a tannic tint. Redolent dark fruitiness, a square of chocolate and a toasted, smoky spiciness with an additional black licorice vibe to it. Taste: A twangy, tartish dark fruitiness, leaning hard into the plums, cherries and figs before hitting a wave of spices, aided by the alcohol to give a peppery quality to 'em. Slight tannic edge. Again, there's that black licorice hint. Spicy, sourish fruitiness on the finish with some alcoholic heat felt on the swallow. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Nitrogenation gives some light suds. Overall: Petrus. Nitro. Quad. Man, there's three words you'd never expect to hear together. Nor should you! It's at least different from the usual heavy, heavily sweet and boozy quad.

Prune and a little smoke. Plenty of resin like retiring your pipe. Black pour. A little astringent for the type of quad I like. Misses the mark a bit like Burroughs playing at William Tell. Tap at Yard House.

tightslice (1529) - Redwood City, California, USA - DEC 30, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 Bottle from Total Wine in Mountain View, CA. Aroma is burnt sugar, dark cherries, licorice, European candies. Taste is tart dark cherry, herbal licorice, sweet tangy and bitter finish. Not sure what I expected here...some nice surprise flavors of dark cherry and licorice but definitely a bit overbearing. I enjoyed the uniqueness of this beast.
