COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered
A blend of 33% Petrus Aged Pale, pure barrel aged beer that has been aged for two years in oak barrels, and 67% young brown beer. In this blend, the young dark beer contributes the reddish-brown colour and the Aged Pale contributes the slightly sour flavour. Petrus Roodbruin is a typical Flemish red ale as tradition dictates.

Holy god, I’m impressed. I’m really surprised with it’s low score after sitting down and enjoying this. Wonderfully sessionable, slightly sour brew, that impressed me most with its creamy, almost frothy, and oily mouthfeel. If you want to have a friend step into the sour end of the pool slowly, I’d say this is a great way to do it.

Underneath its pretty stable foam its a sour aroma of vinegar, which together with the oak tree gives a scent of woodland and fermented dark fruits. It has a little graceful character, but is most fruitful and malty to the sweat side. I taste the most tender cherries, dried dark fruits and a malt character of caramel and dark chocolate. The aroma promises a sour and sour Belgian brown, while the flavor instead offers a delicate composite fruit with a fine balance in the malt and fruit seeds. I'm pleasantly surprised and would like to buy it again. My lovely wife is world champion in homemade chocolate mousse, and here I think that this beer with its acidity will be quite satisfactory.

Bottle, 0.33l. Deep ruby pour, small and short lasting off-white head. Vinegar and caramel on the nose, some candy notes. Thin body, medium to high carbonation. Very fizzy. Moderately sour taste with subtle sugary sweetness. Some bitterness towards the finish. Aroma.... a bit all over the place. Undefined. Lots of vinegar. Some faint candy and caramel. Slight herbal touch. Yeast. Slightly acidic. Somewhat dry. Medium lasting finish. Overall, mediocre. Drinkable but a bit disappointing.

A decent example of the style. Sour raspberry notes. You are supposed to drink it cold I preferred it after it warmed up a bit ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sour aroma, almost urine. Very dry taste, no sweetness. Very nice colour, clear red-brown as the name implies. Sourness is the main driver of taste. Ok
