A blend of 33% Petrus Aged Pale, pure barrel aged beer that has been aged for two years in oak barrels, and 67% young brown beer. In this blend, the young dark beer contributes the reddish-brown colour and the Aged Pale contributes the slightly sour flavour. Petrus Roodbruin is a typical Flemish red ale as tradition dictates.

Benzai (15460) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2011
Quite large beige head that disappears pretty fast. Nice dark amber, red-brown color. The smell is lightly sour, but also a little bit sweet and a little bit wood. It doesn’t taste very sour, only a little hint of sour I would say. Despite the low ABV it has a pretty nice body and good carbonation.

Bottle at Dæmningen. Clear red/brown - light brown head. Aroma: The fluffy head smells like sour-tuborg-hops !! But after that comes bikeglue and light wood. Taste: Red berries, light sour, light wood, malty, light rubber - bikegluem lbalsamic vinegar, acid. Too light in all asbects.

33 cL bottle. Aroma of caramel malt and sour dark fruit. Color was ruby tinged brown, with a beige head that was furious and stayed. Definite sour note as the glass approaches the lips. Thin to medium bodied. Near creamy, from moderate carbonation. Not all that sweet, and there is a thrilling sour note running through it. Very pleasant. The malty sweetness is fairly balanced by the sour and light bitter. Not tremendously complex, but much more so than many. It really is nice to have in the mouth. The finish is touch of oak, dark fruit skin, touch of sour, a hint of bitter. Just excellent. Refreshing.

Bottle poured a clear dark copper brown with a lasting creamy amber head. Aromas of cherry, oak, carmel and a hint of tobacco. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, oak and light fruittiness with a crisp slightly tart finish.

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2013 Re-rate 6/2/13: Bottle sample at a sour tasting at Noam’s office. Thanks zvikar. Reddish brown with a beige head. Aroma has a bit of wood, light graininess, some malt and a bit of fruitiness. Slightly sweetish flavor with faint sourish notes, light graininess, malt, a bit of caramel and a faint woody note. (3/1/08) Draught sample at Zythos Bier Festival 2008 in Sint Niklaas. Deep red with a medium beige head. Aroma has some oak, some sweetish malt and a bit of berries. A rather sweet flavor with some malt and caramel a bit of bretty sourness. Medium body. Quite enjoyable but nothing more - too sweet and mild. 7/4/6/3/13=3.3

Scopey (14511) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2012
Bottle at home. It pours deep brown with a purplish hue and quickly dissipating thick beige head. The nose is oak, musty, dust, barnyard and a touch of vinegar. The taste is wood, dark fruit, plum skin, faint cherry, light tanginess, vinous aspect, pithy lemon and dull sweetness with a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation. Disappointing lack of any real sourness. Not bad, just rather forgettable.

imdownthepub (14468) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 29, 2011
Bottled, 330ml at The Anchor, Birmingham. Mahogany with cream head. Sharp and tangy with a sweet fruity aside note. Fullish on the palate, there is a tartness that gives it a twangy edge. Pretty decent.

Tmoney99 (14368) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 6, 2005
Snifter draft at Taco Mac in Chattanooga. Dark reddish brown color with moderate off-white head that diminished slowly. Complex citrus and spice aroma. Medium body with smooth texture. Same complex citrus and spice flavor with a moderate sweet finish. Interesting brew.
