A blend of 33% Petrus Aged Pale, pure barrel aged beer that has been aged for two years in oak barrels, and 67% young brown beer. In this blend, the young dark beer contributes the reddish-brown colour and the Aged Pale contributes the slightly sour flavour. Petrus Roodbruin is a typical Flemish red ale as tradition dictates.

This is 50% a flemish sour ale, and 50% a Belgian Brown, I suppose. It lacks a lot of the contrasting sweet/tartness that I love so much about the Flemish Sour style. Anyway, a pleasant drink nonetheless, with a hint of the Belgian funkiness, and a tad mild.

From a 33cl bottle, pours a dark burgundy brown color, with a tan color head. Aroma of dry dark fruits, malts, mineral. Flavors of light roasted malts, sour dark fruits; plums and raisins. Lovely light sourness, wine like. rather dry in mouth. very pleasant.

Pours a dark reddish brown with a somewhat creamy head. Smell is doughy malts and nutmeg. Taste is sweet cherry, vanilla. It also has a vinegar acidity. Despite the loud flavors and aromas, the crispness makes this one tasty.

F: medium, light tanned, average retention. C: dark, almost opaque, clear. A: sour fruitiness, bit woody, bit vinegar, red fruits, bit caramel. T: light dark malt, bit vinegar, light sour fruity, bit chocolate, blackcurrants, I like this beer style, this beer is not so complex but still nice to drink, medium body, lower carbonation, 33cl bottle from Carrefour market – St. Michel @ Etterbeek, Brussels.

0,33l Bottle at Tuulensuu. Pours brown color. Aroma of malts, tartness, earth, bitterness, wood, citrus. Medium- body, feels a bit light and mild in general. Not bad but leaves you wanting for more.

0,33l bottle at a friends place shared by him, big thanks. BB 02.08.2019. dark brown color, small tan head. smells musty, light funk, citric, green apples, nutty, earthy. very nice smell. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes earthy, citric, leathery, bit sugary, earthy, light caramel. finishes sweet/sour with notes of brown sugar, citrus and some leather. liked the smell, taste is rather weird though. not a big fan overall, terrible balance. 8, 4, 5, 3, 12

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2018 Tasted 2017-12-25. Fresh bottle. Very nice woody and sour aroma. Breaddish and slightly funky, earthy taste, as one would expect. Love it.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2018 Пиво я не понял, на мой вкус оно было кисловатым, хотя я понимаю, что кислый эль таким и должен быть, но вот как-то я не проникся. По крайней мере пока. Может нужно время:).

Bottle. Dark red brown nearly black body with white head. Aroma is red fruits some wine malts and some sourness. Taste is malts fruits sourness with some light milky caramel in the background. Mouthfeel is a little bit thin. Aftertaste is nice balanced between sour and sweet.
