Its notes of melon, papaya, and ripe fruit, and the zesty, refreshing finish will have you puckering up with joy in no time. 6.3% 45 IBUs Tangelo, Citrus Zest, Refreshing HISTORY By the 1790’s the British were established in India and needed beer, which was considered a staple in every household. India, however, presented serious problems for brewers. Hot temperatures, poor water, short supplies, and basic ingredients made it impossible to brew beer. Attempts to ship beer out of Britain to Calcutta failed. George Hodgson of London produced a pale ale of greater strength and bitterness than those he sold in London. The hops helped protect the beer from spoilage, as did the increased alcohol content. Hodgson’s India Ale arrived in Calcutta in fine shape-clear, strong, and bitter, with a big, resinous hop aroma. The word spread of India Pale Ale and people throughout England and the United States were clamoring for this wonderful new beer. The rage lasted through 1970’s, but lost steam in the 1980’s and became just another name for low alcohol bitters. As craft beer has emerged and grown, so has IPA! IPA has helped grow Craft Beer to what it is currently today. There are now many shapes and forms of IPA, but they all share bright aromatic hop aroma of Citrus, Tropical Fruit, and Pine. Hop flavor coats the tongue and these beers finish with an assertive, but balanced bitterness. In area where brewers are in pursuit of citrus and fruit flavors its only natural to add actual citrus or fruit to a hop forward beer in order to exemplify these flavors. We built this IPA with fruit and citrus forward hops and added grapefruit and tangelo zest to the beer to create our citrus IPA. The combination of the hops and the fresh citrus zest creates bright and refreshing flavors. clear golden orange with white head. Big orange and grapefruit nose. Clean and crisp, with a surprisingly complex hop profile including melon and tropical fruit under the zest. A touch light otherwise great.

Bottle. Aromas of citrus zest, indeed! Very floral and perfumey even, with grapefruit and mild tropical fruit. Gold straw color. Flavors of floral hops, loads and more loads of citrus, light tropical fruit, with sweetish malt behind it all. Thin body (maybe a bit too thin for the powerful zestiness). Pleasant enough, but way overboard with the floral and citrus notes.

Pleasantly surprised that papaya/mango aroma and flavor notes are at least on equal with citrusy grapefruit - Making for an absolutely delicious taste. This could easily become one of my go-to favorite IPAs ;when available). Have enjoyed most pFreim offerings - this one stands out.

Bottle in Seattle. Thick, somewhat soapy white foam. Pale, quite clear gold. Nice, soft, flowery nose of pale pine resin. Sip is pithy, light citrus adding brightness to a pine resin backbone. Lingering pith and zest, rather than juice. Pretty nice.

500ml bottle pours out an orange color topped with a white head. Nose is citrus forward a nice light spice with a bread malt. Taste is as the nose with the orange peel grapefruit leading the way.

Bottle. Straw in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of pomelo and tangelo zest, cut grass, and light pale malt. Loads of juicy white grapefruit flavor, along with more dry pale malt, a bit of kitchen herbs, and a touch of something tropical. Solid bitterness, but it’s still quite smooth on the palate.

500ml bottle from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market in Salem OR. $3.99 Golden coloured body with a creamy, thick white head. Very citrus fruit hop forward aroma..its as if someone squeezed some pink grapefruit and tangerines into a pale ale..and its delightful. Taste similar to aroma but maybe with a bit more lemon peel..light malts . Very good light well carbonated mouth feel make this glide over the tongue! I liked this simple fruity beer!

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
Hazy dark blond color, compactness persistent head. The aroma is citrusy and tropical. Soft mouthfeel, touch of coriander, zesty, not bad, but the citrus presence is a bit too much and distracts from the hops, hence a bit weird and unbeery.

Split bottle at Erin’s.....pours bright gold with thin head. Nose is fruity combo of melon, lemon, other fresh cut fruit. Taste is definite mix of sweet with the bitter edge of the hops in an IPA. Hop bitterness lingers at the end. Tasty..
