COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cozy up to the fire with a pint pFriem’s Winter Ale and gift your taste buds with hints of spice, orange, zest, caramel and a touch of spruce tree. You may even sense the subtle notes of fruitcake, which might encourage you to share this Winter Ale with your family and friends. Unlike fruitcake, this is a beer that will not be re-gifted. “Winter Ale” covers a broad spectrum of beers in the marketplace. They can be brewed with a heavy hand of spices, be malt driven, or be hop forward with a strong malt back bone. In any case these beers are brewed to celebrate the winter season. They are best enjoyed next to a warm fire, after a powder day on the mountain, and are perfect for the Holiday Season. pFriem Winter Ale is hop forward with juicy aromatic hops, balanced by rich maltiness.

MALT Rahr Pale, Simpsons Munich, Simpsons Crystal Dark, Carafa III (German Roasted Malt)
HOPS Warrior, Cascade, Chinook, Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, Nelson
YEAST American Ale

Bottle, thanks for sharing! Pours a clear gold with an amber hue with a white head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has sweet grains and caramel with a bit of a pine note coming through. Flavor has some pine up front but finish is sweet with some caramel and grains.

Bottle @ The Levi Tasting. Chestnut pour with a small head. Aroma is mildly spicy. Plenty of dirt-rubbed pine. Toasted nut. Some orange zest. Flavor shows plenty of sprucy hop character. Quite bitter.nutty sweet malt ballast. Toffee. Medium body, strong carb.

500ml bottle shared by Brian, thanks. Clear copper pour. Aroma is sweet fruit cake and hops. Taste is way more bitter than expected. Not my style.

Bottle shared by Bryan, thanks. Light brown color. A little caramel, and dominated by hops. Very dry flavor. Abrasive hops, finishing the bottle migjt be difficult

Bottle. Pours with a very nice wintery appeal, warmingly red with a thick blanket of foam. The aroma is a pleasant surprise of spice and zest. Similarly, the beer drinks with a much more jovial nature than I expected ... fruity and acidic, and not too heavy. (#6151, 3/1/2016)

500 ml bottle from Tavour. pFriem Winter Ale is a darker amber mostly clear liquid with a fine head of small tan bubbles. Nose is pine hops and herbs. Taste is dry and herbal that finishes with good bitters. Body is medium and lively. a different beer that doesn’t have your typical winter spices or overpowering citrus rind. I have difficulty detecting any citrus at all. very good beer regardless.

Cool nose of toast caramel oranges and hoppy citrus as well as some foliage. Cooper pour white head nice lace. Flavors of toasted bread, oranges, foliage, leafy notes, some herbal hops, citrus, caramel. Interesting. Lots of shit going on here. Drinks well. Smooth.

Copper with a tall rocky head. Citrus, orange, candied tropical fruit, evergreen, light sugary caramel malts, slight brown sugar. The resin hops are quite intense but still balanced with the other traits. It can get bit much after a full pint, but a great beer regardless.
