COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark temptation! Pfungstädter Justus Weizen Hefe Dunkel is a dark and cloudy unfiltered German Dark Wheat Beer. Fresh, fruity taste combined with roasted malt aroma and an unforgettable effervescent mouthfeel. There is not much more when the summer sun sets. Make sure to use the proper glassware to enjoy this one.

Aroma and appearance propose something good, taste and palate bring it back to reality. Aroma is right for a weizen, bananaand bubblegum, and it pours a nice murkybrown with thick fluffy head. Taste however, is harder to locate and not much is left on the palate, with an overall watery mouthfeel.

aroma is very aley, malty, light chocolate. appearance is pale brown with a full beige head. body is fairly light for a weizen. taste contains a light yeasty bite, but is relatively hoppy and less phenolic than most weizens. mature and non-macro taste. very different and as i had an open mind before tasting it, it impressed me a lot as a nice brown ale.

(500ml can, Beijing) AROMA: light clove and herbs, some yeast, bread, leaves. APPEARANCE: medium, dirty brown. Tight foamy, beige head that sticks to the glass. good amount of initial visible carbonation. TASTE: yeast, cream, soft herbs, touch of grain/malt, not too hoppy, medium body (not as heavy as other dark wheats). PALATE: a bit light and watery, but with creaminess. a tad flat. OVERALL: Average dark wheat, at best. Nothing terrible about it, just leaves a bit to be desired in various ways.

Dark brown beer with a red tint. That red tint means it doesnt look good or taste good. The beige head lasts but the body is thin, the palate watery and the flavor watery amber malt. It’s a foul to call this beer a dunkel or even pretend it’s in the hefe class of beer. Shame on fungstaider!

500ml green bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Cloudy hazy straw brown colour with a ring of yeast sediments; Explosive four finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 5 minutes; Very good sticky lacing with quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant aroma of fair dark malt, with light roastyness, wheat, tartness, banana, dark fruits, light vanilla, cocoa powder , sugar, cloves, cinnamon, spices, marshmallows, strong yeast, light lemon and thin grass; Light sweet taste of light dark malt, with light roastyness, very light metallic, very light banana, wheat, light tartness, light vanilla, soda, strong molasses, earth, light cinnamon, soggy dark bread, strong yeast, light lemon, very light bitter hops and thin grass; Mid to light body. Quite slick and creamy palate; Mouth feel is good dark maltyness in a quite thick background. Wheatyness is fair with light tartness. Banana ester is very light, sweetness is quite strong in the middle. Quite spicy and earthy bready yeast. Moderate sweetness, clove and phenol iis moderate. Low lemon to round. Alright… Hoppiness is cinnamon, light lemon and light grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is low for an abrupt, very low-astringent sweet and dark malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Smooth and easy to mouth.

Comments: Like its Hefe Hell brother, this Dunkelweiss has really impressive looks, creamy feel, and fun to sniff cocoa and marshmallows to hide its weak roastyness. Yet the rather brand taste renders it another “one of the crowds". Drinkable no doubt, but it’s all thunders with little rain.

500 ml bottle. BB 08/10/14. From a trade with Erzengel. Thanks! Brown colour with a small light tan head. The aroma is slightly sour and sweetish malty. The flavour is chocolate, sweet caramel, mild yeast and some wheat. Quite alright... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Extremely foamy, brown body. Overripe banana, toast, simple appeal. Not very dark at all and that’s a shame. Soft bitter taste, not rich. Is okay, better because of the roasted malts but still poor. (50cl bottle from V&B Tours)
