UPDATED: OCT 27, 2016 Sample at the brewery. Low fluffy white lasting head. Hazy yellow body. Mild fruity aroma. First mild and fruity straw flavor, later on the chili comes creaping in. Fair amount of hops bitterness, low carbonation, long finish. UncleKorm (1315) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Seasonal on tap at the brewpub on 16 Sep 12. This is a tough beer to rate as each year the heat will be different. Up front I like heat. I’m not shy with spices when I eat. This year the heat level & chili flavor is BOLD. If your the type of person that can eat a chili whole by itself, then you will enjoy this beer. If you are expecting to taste beer with a hint of chili flavor, than this years batch is not for you. Clear bright yellow hue, small white head mostly diminishing. Light body with lively carbonation. missdev (18) - USA - NOV 6, 2011
The chili aroma is there - but it doesn’t smell roasted. The flavor has a lot of the chili-skin tannins, but there isn’t a lot of chili flavor (outside the spice), and there is nothing of the earthiness of a roasted chili. The mouth is a bit thin. Not overly spicy, it is a beer you can have more than one of without being overwhelmed. Okay, but there are more complex chili beers out there.
