Ported from BA.
Dark. Almost black, but with just a tinge of red coming through when light hits it right. About a finger of tan head from the tap, but it dissipates into nothing after a bit.
Toasty, actually smelling like slightly burnt toast. A bit of sweetness, and very malty. A touch of earthy hops comes through.
Burnt toast and coffee with a bit of dry dark fruit. Not sweet at all, with some hop spiciness that complements the dark malts very well.
Not as thick as I would expect. Not thin, but balanced. Coats the mouth with toasted malt and coffee flavors that hang around for a minute while you shoot pool.
Better than most Irish stouts I encounter. Comparing it to Phantom Canyon’s Porter, my girlfriend called it her new go-to beer there. I would call it very sessionable for the style. jb43 (1650) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 21, 2010
(draft at the brewery, 4/3/10). Black color. Medium tan, creamy head. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt/coffee flavor. Avg duration. Smooth, dry, and light bitter finish. Creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Good lacing.
