COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two Moons Ale - Summer of Pale ale series: American Pale Ale. The first beer in the 2 Moons Series is an American-style Pale Ale loosely based on Ballantine IPA that was brewed in New Jersey by the Ballantine Brewery which opened in 1850. By 1950 Ballantine was the 3rd biggest brewery in America. During this time Ballantine Ale was a favorite of many famous American writers. Author John Steinbeck was featured in a Life magazine ad for Ballantine Ale and Ernest Hemingway did the only commercial endorsement of his life in 1951 for Ballantine Ale. Golden in color with a clean hop bite and a moderately crisp dry finish.

Tasting at Brewers Rendezvous. I believe this is the correct iteration of this series. There were two hops used. Pours a medium, well retained, white head, over a hazy, (well it was dry hopped) dark gold (SRM 6) body.....nose is light citrus, slight pine.......taste is pine, light toffee/caramel, finish is citrus bitter..........mouth feel medium, carbonation low. This falls well into the APA style and meets it quite well. Simcoe is the dominate hop, but is nicely balanced out by the other ingredients. BJCP 7/3/13/4/6
