5 oz. pour at the brewpub. The 2015 version, aged for 7 months in Breckenridge whiskey barrels. Dark, cloudy, orangish-brown color, with a bubbly, tan head. The nose is deliciously boozy, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak. Good aromas of dates, cloves, peat, pine, and syrup. Very sweet and malty, with a light hop bitterness and significant booze warmth. Very heavy body, creamy, thick, with a surprisingly clean finish. A delicious and flavorful beer. The barrel may be a little too forward for some, but I love the whiskey notes, and it plays very well with the base beer. Thoroughly enjoyable! On tap at Phantom Canyon. Appearance: 2 fingers tan head, amber brown color, cloudy, good lacing. Aroma: raisins, prune, caramel, light booze. Palate: medium body, soft carbonaiton, light booze warming, sticky texture. Taste: sweet prune and raisin into some boozy warming. Overall, a bit cloying sweet, but I really like the aroma and the flavor is good, just unbalanced. UncleKorm (1335) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - DEC 13, 2013
On tap poured a ruby hue w/ medium fully diminishing beige head. Moderate boozy aroma. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are orange liquor, bourbon, grass, pepper, and cask barrel. Full bodied, soft carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel, and a dry warm finish.

Nose of rich alcohol, toasty caramel with touches of ripe citrus and spicy herbs, pine, honey. Big sweet flavor with sugary bread, rich toffee, bit of vanilla and honey, very creamy toffee. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with sticky sugars, some spices, some citrus, dry bread, toast, more honey, faint cocoa, toffee. Lots of nuance here. Delicious.

Sweetish dark toffee, Nice dark fruits - prune and fig. Trace of vanilla before mellow whisky. Rich and tangy. Finishes with more dark toffee, this time slightly tangy. Touch of red berry fruits. A little aniseed alcohol but no real heat. Great BA barleywine. Very very drinkable.
Bottle @ THE Barley Wine Tasting. Cheers to Ken for the pour! The pour’s deep brown with a medium white head. The nose is cocoa powder, cherry, toffee and light bourbon. The taste is straightforward for a BA Barley Wine - plenty of malty toffee and cherry flavors, light chocolate with shocks of vanilla and wood. Full body, a sipper. Nice, but not a standout on the evening. Scopey (15476) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2012
