On tap at Capone’s. Poured a deeper brown with red edges and an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, coffee, and some earthiness. Tastes of chocolate, coffee with cream, chocolate, and some caramel. Lacing left on the glass. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - APR 30, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 5, 2011 (Rating #6600) Bottle… Pours very dark and sits black in my glass with a ridiculously large, foamy, mushroom-colored head. Fantastic retention. The intensity and size of the head hint at infection. The aroma offers lots of deep roast, but no real coffee - a bit lactic as well. Medium-bodied and mildly creamy with tingly carbonation. Tons of black malt and espresso flavor here. Leans just a smidge toward the bitter side of balance - low sweetness, but nothing lactic or “off” in the taste. Finishes burnt and a touch acrid. Fortunately, the infection hasn’t set in enough to whittle away at the beer’s body or flavor. I wish I could remember who sent this beer to me. I’ll go ahead and thank pantanap for shooting this brew my way! daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 19, 2011
Dark brown, tons of fluffy tan head. Aroma is plastic and coffee. Flavor is roasty, coffee, and on its way to getting sour. Odd but good.

Draft. Pours deep brown with ruby edges and a finger of off-white head. Nose is dark malt, chocolate, mild coffee, and mild hops. Definite dominant coffee in the flavor, with chocolate, malt, mild hops, and a nice creaminess. If you hate strong coffee beers, stay away, but if you like them, this is a very fine example of this emerging style. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 25, 2011
Pours brownish black, fizzy tan head from the bottle, thanks to James. Aroma has notes of coffee, dark fruit, some roast, with a touch of caramel. Taste is big coffee, some chocolate and toffee notes, finishing roasted and bitter. The carb level, however, was so over the top it made it taste like acidic coffee. Good, but would be much better with a tad less carbonation. blipp (9598) - La Mesa, California, USA - MAR 6, 2009
Draft. Pours black with a beige head. Roasted aroma with definite notes of coffee. Huge roasted coffee flavor, with a lingering roasted malt and hoppy finish. A bit one sided, but good nonetheless. JoeMcPhee (9517) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 19, 2009
Tap at Misconduct Tavern. Deep brown beer with a very creamy tan head. Aroma is loaded with coffee and a light minerally maltiness on the back. Nice earthy component with lots of fresh brewed coffee aroma. There is a bit of light cocoa and roast on the back of the beer as well. The beer is lightly swet with a nice soft coffeeish flavour. It’s missing a bit of mid-palate complexity, but it’s still pretty tasty. nimbleprop (8725) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 29, 2012
12oz bottle pours a watery, but mostly opaque black with one ring of beige head. Nose of mild coffee, brown sugar, malt, a little brown bread. Flavor is the same, Little nutty, coffee, brown sugar, malt, bread. Medium bodied, dry finish. Neither the base beer nor the coffee are exceptional, but this is a decent little coffee porter.
