Bottle. Pale golden-yellow body with a clean white head. Odd briny aroma with a note of yellow mustard. The wild ride continues as fish tones emerge in the flavor. Smooths out a bit after the senses adapt. Some notable spicy hop flavors plus sweet doughy malt form the base here. But a strange grainy, phenolic quality is supplying the off characters. I really, really wanted to like this. But it just ain’t happening.

Bottle, which is sleek and hip. Pours nice copper color with medium lacing. The beer is nice but like the others has a dull earthy aftertaste that I can’t put my finger on. It is however a good session ale that I wouldn’t turn down if offerred.

Bottle: pours a clear, golden amber color with a frothy white head, aroma is sweet and also a little yeasty, bitter, hoppy flavor, thin mouthfeel, a nice session beer.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2008 On Tap: Little to no head to speak of. I didn’t detect much of an aroma from the beer. Taste wise it was good with some nice hop flavor along with some yeast. Very good lawnmower beer.

[Draft @ Ray’s "Happy Birthday" Bar] Poured a lightly hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, light toffee, citrus fruits, and a bit of floral hops. Taste was crisp, with toasty dough, pils malt, light citrus fruits, toffee, and a lemon rind finish.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2010 Re-rating 9/27/2010: Much the same, had it on draught, but I’ll also add that it’s a great session beer for conversation and friends. And you have to love supporting something local. Again had at the Green Rock Tavern, 2546 E Lehigh Ave, Philly. 4/10/2008: Light, chipper, bounces off tongue. Drank at Green Rock Tavern, FISHTOWN. Good tavern, good people.

A real nice easy drinking lager; reminds of a Brooklyn Lager "light." Nice use of hops and plenty of aroma, but not too heavy....great for your wife or girlfriend....good job Bartons!

Draught: Sweet aroma of floral hops, Pils malts, and lagering yeast. Poured gold in color with a small white head that diminished quickly. Clear. Sparkling. Lightly sweet and lightly bitter flavor. Flavor of fruit, berries, celery, and Pils malts. Light to medium body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Dry finish.
