From a true "city of neighborhoods" we offer our take on a "biere de mars, " or a ruddy farmhouse ale. In true Philadelphia fashion, European and American ingredients are melded into a complex, ruby ale with flavors of toasted malt and rye. It's the perfect accompaniment for some quality time enjoyed in the backyard (or on the front stoop) of your urban farmhouse.

Shockingly good. A deep rusted red, perfectly clear ale with a strong aroma of toffee and coffee. The flavor is deep but not complex, large amounts of hops (cascade?) promise bitterness that is absent but not missed, in this case. This is followed by a dirty earthiness. Terrific and filthy. I wish I had access to more!

Backlog, Bottle with Pat in 10, amber color with small head. Nice bier de mars overall. Not sure if we got a good batch cause these guys are very inconsistent. Aroma of coffee, apples, spice, malt, and yeast. Taste similar with toasted malt and farmhouse tones.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark red to brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. Light stringy lace. The aroma had some good caramel/toffee notes, toast, dried apples, and some sweet and spicy rye follow into some earthy, woody and leather-like qualities. The flavor blended the spicy to the sweet fully and lead into the aftertaste and finish pretty nice. The palate was just a tad under medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Sturdy carbonation and the ABV felt good. Overall, pretty nice rye beer enthusiastically bringing everything together nicely.

12oz bottle. Poured a brownish red color with a faint off white head. Malty sweetness with nice hops on the nose. Sweet malt tones of caramel and dried fruit with some earthy tones. The hops show up somewhat through in the middle with the spice flavor pushing through. Medium body with some creaminess, and carbonation that was fairly low.

Lemon and grain scent. What a type like this should smell like. Nice. Taste is oats, wheat, other grains. Thin body and mild carbonation.

Pours reddish brown with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, toast, rye and a little medicinal. Taste is sweet with herbal tartness. Medium mouth feel with a Slick texture. A little to medicinal for my liking.

Pours a clear red with a light tan head. Smells of roasty bread. Taste is a hint of sunflower seed, almost nutty - i guess from the rye - slightly sweet, without a strong hop presence.

Interesting take on a farmohouse beer being a little darker and having more body than usual, although it wasnt very impressive.
