Pours a nice inky black with small dark head. Aromas are cold coffee, a bit of dark chocolate and some faint pepper. Flavours of fresh cold coffee. And bitter chocolate. Sour finish. northropfrye (3732) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 23, 2015
Dark body brown head. The aroma is developed but odd like roast coffee and salsa. Tomatoes and peppers. Taste is sweet malt roast coffee dirt mud. Not bad I suppose but not the most successful imperial stout. sulawang (1211) - - NOV 19, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2015 Visual: Pours jet black with a very small disappearing head, thin hazy micro retention.
Nose: sweet malty burnt roasted coffee. (lvl-10)-pungency
Mid-palate: more bubbly mouthfeel, (MAIN) roasted coffee, caramel malts, cola, hints of vanilla -> (lvl-6)-sweetness
Finish: subdued sour, light roast, chocolate malt burnt bittersweet.
Summary: Decent flavours, enjoyable. It feels a bit lacking in boldness; the mids end too quickly.
[December 6, 2015 re-tasting]:
Nose: aromatic freshly roasted coffee beans, light coffee acidity. (lvl-8)-pungency
Attack: slick-half oily, crisp, incoming malts
Mid-palate: watery mouthfeel, (lvl-5)-sweetness, medium sourness, (MAIN) burnt roasted coffee, cola, brown sugar malts
Finish: soy sauce, dark chocolate bitterness.
Summary: The second time around it feels like it needs more body and creaminess in the mids. Also not particularly liking the coffee sourness. Downgraded from 3.5 rating. LarryBeast (616) - - MAY 28, 2015
650ml bottle. Thick, rich espresso with molasses and herbal notes. Nice and roasty with lingering bitter coffee finish. simonblaine (593) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 11, 2015
Pours black , coffee couloured head that doesn’t last. Coffee and roasted malts, add in chocolate to those two smells and you have the taste. It’s good, not thick enough for a my kind of stout, but it’s pretty dang good.

Bomber, cellared one year. Deep dark hueless brown, mocha foam mostly fades. Promising aroma of dark roasted malt, coffee bean and chocolate. Taste is surprisingly lighter roast, more smooth milky chocolate than coffee, lightly sweet and barely bitter. Softer carbonation, light-medium body, low hopped. Nice enough, but quite lean for an Impy. NFL (Not For Lagerboys) ljthiessen (1513) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 17, 2014
Bottle. Inky black pour with a mocha head, not much retention. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some dark roasty notes and a touch of marshmallow. Flavour is a touch boozy, medium bodied, fairly bitter and roasty with chocolate and sort of stale, bitter coffee. I love coffee, and coffee stouts, but this tastes like the dregs at the end of a pot of cheap drip coffee. Too bad, because the beer underneath isn’t bad, and I had high hopes. pintbypint (3947) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 16, 2014
341ml brown bottle from the Snowcase. Deep brown/black with a thin looking light brown head. Nose has coffee, brown sugar and roasted malt. Taste has roasted malt, coffee, brown sugar. Dry finish with roast and mild coffee. Light lingering bitterness and no sign of alcohol. Medium body, gentle carbonation. Some good flavours, enjoyable, but a little mild overall. Bottle into pint glass. Pours a solid black colour with small brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is about the same. If you're a fan of coffee you'll be a fan of this beer.

Not a bad stout, beautiful inky black pour with a tan head. Malty and chocolatey flavours but alsohad a weird bitter metallic taste.
