bottle. Poured deep brown with a creamy tan head. Bold spicy hop aroma. Full rich mouthfeel, creamy carbonation with a lingering bitter end. Heavily roasted malt, bitter-sweet flavours of coffee, cocao, treacle, with a punch of fresh hops and some warming alcohol in the finish. Metalchopz (3391) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 9, 2015
Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights. Big frothy beige head, great retention and loads of creamy lacing. Grassy hop aromas over the mild roasted malts. The hops are more dominant in the taste. Sharp grass bitterness with a dry finish. Coffee and chocolate notes. A pretty good Imperial Black IPA for those who like the stronger hops in these one. Recommended for hopbombs lovers that also like the alcohol. punkska101 (2041) - Chambly, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 5, 2015
Bottle from lcbo no date on the bottle a: light citrusy, chocolaty, light roastiness, some fruitiness app: dark brown almost black thick white head some lacing. T/p: med body with medium long bitter finish. Soft to moderate carbonation. O: I’m really not a fan of black ipa. although I’m guessing it’s a bit old, I enjoyed it. The malt bill used in this brew is particularly nice. Would seek more from this brewery. pootzboy (1739) - Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2015
Bottle - deep black with some amber highlights, tan cap stacks out of the glass, lasts. Aroma is floral-fruity-roasty a deadly combo. Solid bodied, rich. hoppy. Front side of the flavor profile is relatively balanced between rich roasty malts and piney hops - long wet finish gets increasingly bitter.
Alcohol rides just below the surface of the flavor profile - its there but not aggressive. A decent big Cascadian ale but there is something lacking I just can’t put my finger on - mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 26, 2015
[7176-20150320] 650mL bottle. Citrus peel and toasted grains aroma. Clear, dark cola brown body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Bitter roasted malt and citrus peel flavour. Full body. Good. (8/4/8/4/15) 3.9

Bottle from the LCBO. Deep reddish-brown body with a healthy tan head. Aroma has a nice balance of roasted coffee beans, dark malt, and west coast hops. Flavour is similarly well balanced, with rich dark malt, molasses and licorice notes that provide a good base for the big citrus and pine hops that come on quickly and linger in the finish. Body is a touch thin. Alcohol is fairly well integrated, but just a slight uptick of warmth in the end. Pretty nice stuff. czar (9085) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2015
pours clear dark brown with a frothy and creamy beige head, very good retention and lacing. sweet chocolate and coffee maltiness, molassed brown maltiness, candied melons and peppery strawberries, citrus peel and resin, minty citrus, candied oranges, espresso roasted coffee beans, clean yeast. light carbonation, medium body - oily; almost balanced grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. nicely aromatic and chocolatey black ipa. enjoyed! Pours darker than an an over due tax bill with a foamy milkshake style cap. I shoved the glass under the nose of Mrs Tiki & she recoiled, which is usually a good sign for a hop head like me. Taste is blackened malts, watery coffee, leather (what, you saying you haven’t licked leather?), & bitter hops. Some reviewers below me are complaining about lack of balance & I have to disagree, as this walks a nice tightrope between styles. Highly drinkable. From a 650ml bottle. Pours a huge frothy tan head and has a dark brown appearance with ruby highlights. Thick patchy lacing. Aromas of roasted barley malts, earthy hops. Flavours are actually quite hoppy with notes of citrus hops, bready and sweet malts. Slick and creamy mouthfeel. Gluepot (640) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 16, 2015
A very tasty thick and roasty variation on the Black IPA theme. The overall taste profile features a nice marriage of slightly bitter coffee and chocolate elements with gripping hops, toasted malt and a touch of cherries and cream. There is a strong sub-taste of mollasses or dark toffee, but it is not too sweet. The body is thick and satisfying and the significant effervescence punches up the taste. This blend works really well for me.
