On tap. Pours a very dark brown with almost no head. Aromas of hay, roasted malt, and bit of cocoa powder. Flavors are similar. OK but not memorable.
Pours black, thin head. Aroma of sugary roasted malts, taste is malty, chocolate, coffee, this quickly and becomes pretty watery. sulawang (1189) - - FEB 12, 2015
Visual: Pours dark brown with a small disappearing head, a thin fine layer of retention, scattered loose fast streams.
Nose: thick caramel malts, light roast, brown sugar, molasses (lvl-5)-pungency
Mid-palate: fizzy, (lvl-5)-sweetness (MAIN) cola, caramel malts, molasses
Finish: burpy, airy, malty finish.
Summary: Decent, drinkable medium-bodied brew. Not much depth or "big" flavour. As with this style, low hop profile. mcberko (18589) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 23, 2015
341mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Nose brings out toasted nuts and a little toasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with notes of toasted nuts and lightly caramelized toasted malt. Dry, toasted and balanced, but pretty unambitious. Okay. 341 ml bottle. Clear deep copper, healthy lasting tan froth. Roasty nutty aroma. Darker smooth milky chocolate malt taste, not too sweet, soft and easy. A bit thin but yummy. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly) ljthiessen (1397) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 10, 2014
Bottle. Clear, dark brown pour with a beige head. Aroma is citrus with some dark fruits. Flavour is malty, some dried fruits with a citrusy finish and a touch of caramel. Pretty highly carbonated. Not bad, but wouldn’t seek this out again.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Sweet for a dunkel, nice roasted malt and burnt wheat flavours. Pretty good! Long live the funk! thb (832) - Alberta, CANADA - JUL 19, 2014
Clear, dark brown/dark red, head is gone quickly. Aroma is roast, toast, brown sugar/molasses, chocolate. Sweetness is the main character from start to finish, but not so much to be sticky. One dimensional but pleasant. Oakes (18568) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 16, 2014
Sweet front, but balanced with toast, dark sugars. Med brown. Not refined but not bad. Masterkush7 (580) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 27, 2014
Dark coppery brown pour. Seems fairly clear, light tan coloured head, average size. Nose has dark chcocolate malt, and unsurprisingly, it has that same yeasty signature that all Phillips brews have. Taste is caramelly with cocoa powder, peanut skins, and a nice level of earhty roasty malt. Decent hit of bitterness coming from roast/dark malts at the end. Ends dryly with notes of iron and toasty grains. Average bodied, smooth mouthfeel, somewhat creamy. Pretty basic dunkel
