Bottle from BC Liquorsmcberko (17854) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 19, 2011
Hazy golden color. The aroma is a bit herbal (sage and rosemary). The mouthfeel is dry, with the flavor of decent Pale Ale, a moderate touch of ginger plus some herbs; in the final the bitterness is correct and mingles with the ginger spicyness. Although not my favorite style, it has been brewed with grace and will match many dishes.
Sampled at Brewery Creek, pours golden yellow. Intense ginger on the nose with a slight hop bite. Flavour is essentially like taking a bite of pure ginger. Maybe the best example of this I’ve had, though still not overly my thing. Oakes (17699) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 11, 2012
Amber with a slight haze. Very overt ginger on the nose like what you’d see with a Jamaican ginger soda. Strong ginger taste. Underlying malt is nothing special - normal amber ale stuff - but it’s enough to tell you that it’s not a soda. That won’t be for everyone but I like ginger beer (soda), so I like this too. Bottle - Raw ginger, a bit earthy and a tiny sweetness. Clear gold with a thin head. Tastes of raw ginger, a bit of heat but falls flat after that. There is nothing to balance this or distinguish. It doesn’t even taste like a ginger beer pop. Although if you don’t like sweet fizzy ginger drinks this may be good for you. bhensonb (15251) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 1, 2016
Bomber from BC Liquor Store on Hastings, Vancouver, BC. Pours hazy dark gold with a slight white head. Woooh! The ginger aroma is strong and pleasing. Med body. The flavor is lightly burning ginger. Love ginger. So many people are afraid to put in a good amount of ginger. Phillips is brave indeed. Maybe it needs a bit more malt, but maybe not. It is ginger. Wish I had some sushi and wasabi to measure this stuff against/with. Any ginger beer lover should be pleased with this.

lcbo bottle. Pours thickish medium yellow. Big spicy ginger, and that’s it. Medium mouthfeel. Decent drinkability. Not something worth more than a glass. DuffMan (10436) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 14, 2011
My bottle just says "Ginger Beer", but I’m pretty sure it’s the same brew. Pours a clear honey gold with a thick, lasting white head-- not soda-ish at all, very "beer looking". Aroma is intensely spicy fresh ginger, slightly pungent/earthy. Flavour is all about fresh ginger, slightly soapy, with prickly heat in the finish. Medium bodied, nice pale malt structure. A great ginger beer. jercraigs (10374) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 18, 2013
2013-01-13. Crisp bright orange body, modest beige head. 3+ strong aroma of ginger in the aroma has an almost soapy undertone to it. 6+ Flavour has a ton of fresh ginger character not unlike pickled ginger from the sushi bar at times. Light alcohol and bitterness, ginger builds and grabs at the throat a bit. Average plus palate. Not bad, but the ginger is pretty intense, so you better like it! Bottle from the LCBO JoeMcPhee (9427) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 4, 2012
Amber-gold pour with a thin white head. The aroma is quite fresh and gingery. A little bit of soft sweetness and a bit of gingery heat as well. I get a little whiff of vegetal character as well as bit of soft spice. There is a little bit of lingering bitterness in here as well. It’s a decent enough brew - the ginger comes through more in the nose than on the palate, but it’s okay. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 27, 2013
[5058-20130112] 650mL bottle. Spicy soapy ginger aroma. Slightly hazy, orange brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Peppercorn ginger spiced malt grain flavour has a surprising hot-bitter finish. Medium body is bitter and very peppery. Interesting, pretty intensely ginger thoughout but has a nice bitter base.
