3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus. Taste is hoppy, kind of a floral citrus hop bitterness, warms to a more floral hoppiness with a warm malt undertone. Finishes with a floral hop flavour. Very nice, this one is all about the cascade hops and you really get those floral and citrus tones without too much bitterness. Well done....
12 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Bottle is a bit old, so I’m rating this generously based on how I think this would’ve drank fresh. Nose and flavour bring out piney hops, dry biscuity malt, and some light herbal notes. Pretty well-balanced, dry and drinkable. Decent but rather banal IPA. (2012 edition) Clear gold with a nice long lasting crown. CASCADE!!! one of my favorite all times hopes, especially when its a single hop. Flowery grapefruit hops with a nice maltiness in the aroma. Taste is refreshing and easy to drink, crisp, and clean. touch of a powdery feel. Taste is slightly piny but is mostly tangerine and lemon. Taste could be stronger. Malts need to be thicker but they do come across as slightly chocolaty what is never bad unless its bad but in this case its not bad. Just hit a big note of Iron...mmmmmmm bloody nose flavor. I could drink this all day long. WheatKing (1338) - Phnom Penh, CAMBODIA - JUN 6, 2012
Got this in the HopBox of course... they should do an entire box of single hopped IPAs to give us Joe Shmoes a way of discerning hop varieties, the only way I have of doing that is by brewing a SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) but I’m too busy rating beers to do that. I see where VBS i coming from on the "powdery" feel, I think that may hurt for other styles but for the IPAs it’s fine. Lots of floral aroma on this one. Lacing is great, always one of my favourite aspects of this style, I love watching my beer. Ferris (15901) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 20, 2012
Bottle - Nice mild and balanced grapefruit and flowery nose. Clear gold with a nice long lasting head, great considering a bottle. Obviously as a single hop, the characteristics well displayed but also little complexity. Bitter finish but not overpowering. A great way to understand different hop characteristics. In short: Discreet crackery pale malts and grapefruity hopping. Crisp, very simple and refreshing

How: Bottle 341ml. Consumed fresh a few weeks after the beer release. Bottle sent to me as a bonus by Savvy1982, thanks a lot Kyle
The look: Clear orangey-blond body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is citrusy and a bit floral. Nothing explosive in the aroma but what it offers feels fresh a clean. Taste has a low-sweetness crackery malt backbone really reminiscent of unsalted Premium Plus™ crackers. The beer is not overly hoppy but nonetheless the hops overpowers this frail maltiness. Citrusy (mostly grapefruity) and a bit floral. Clean, crisp, bright and never resinous. Finish feels a bit harsh with the bitter grapefruits having no opposition. Despite its lack of complexity and frail maltiness I liked this beer because I love crisp and fresh refreshing hops. Decent summer beer. Very straightforward beer that does the job, with this creation the brewer showed as much creativity as the first dude who gave a name to the place where make fire, and named it “fireplace”. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Nov. 2011. Bottle from the hopbox. Pours kind of golden in color. Aromas of citrus and floral hops. Taste is similar with lots of citrus and floral notes. Very well balanced and a perfect level of carbonation. Good start to the hopbox. Lagerboy (2221) - British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 16, 2012
Clear orangey yellow, foamy white head leaves definitive storied lacing. Pungent floral hoppy aroma. Spicy citrus floral hop taste, some grapefruit. Moderately hopped, average carbs, dry bitter finish. Very nice. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary) dresden (1581) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - JAN 12, 2012
Bottle from the hop box. Smells really good with lots of pineapple. You can really taste the grapefruity cascadehops obviously but something still didnt seem totallyright to me. Its reallysticky and hoppy. Its goodbut there are a lot of other options. gramity (1672) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 25, 2011
Enjoyed from the hop box. I would definitely highlight the cascade as being the star of the beer. The expected grapefruit presence is there and the bitterness is just what I was looking for. Might be a bit much for some but I find it very drinkable. Perhaps my biggest detraction when considering this for a regular beer in my line up is the intentional one dimension approach by using only cascade. Would love to do a side by side of this with a different hop from them.
