Imperial stout was originally brewed to satisfy the Czarist courts. Because it was transported across the freezing Baltic, Russian imperial stout was brewed with a high level of alcohol. Rich, flavourful, deep chocolate colour, with a roasted barley nose. Break down that wall... or conform & be dull.

Bottle to tulip Aroma of coffee, chocolate, toasted malt, and cheese curds. Dark chocolate colour with a thin light tan head. Taste is dark chocolate and toasted malt.

Bottle - Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Jet black with a brown small head. Bittersweet chocolate and espresso bitterness finishing a little sweet. A decent Imperial Stout.

Pours uh dark. Imperial stouts are good but typically they lack elegance and that’s why I rate them a tiny bit lower than average (though when they’re great the only word for that is transplendant... transpendant!"), I don’t think a lower-than average impy is any better than an average brown or bitter. This one, I think, is a bit lower than average because of the thinness and graininess; coffee and chocolate flavours are there but they both seem cheap. Soy sauce. Sorry, but nothing special.

pretty damn good stout good dark color nice brown head lots of choc and not wood like the barrel aged one all around a pretty alright stout except for that dirty metal taste i highly reccomend getting the barrel aged one

I guess this tastes like coffee and chocolate because those guys said so and it kind of does. I drank this second and it went down pretty easy. This is a good beer to drink after the first beer. Read this sentence second last.

Pours great with nice foamy mocha head but not so much lacing. Smells a liitle nutty with some booze and roast malt aromas. Medium consistency - light for style. Aftertaste is pretty light, doesnt stay with you long. A bit disappointing, actually. Had this bottle on sale at volos for $10! Great deal.

Gerbeer (4157) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 27, 2012
650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with thin tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate powder and burnt malt. Flavors of bitter dark chocolate. Dry and somewhat acidic.
