You can almost hear the sirens as you pop the cap on this bomber. This IPA slams hop first into a classic Belgian yeast to create a super-fortress of flavour.

Single bomber from the LCBO. Pours a rich golden colour with a frothy white head that is huge, stays long and creates loads of fluffy foam lacing. Smells like an IPA at first pour with citrus grass, but the Belgian Ale yeast comes out as soon. The mix is a fruity and caramel one. The taste is pretty sweet and the dry finish is quite low. Some decent bitterness does appear in the aftertaste. Still, can’t say I am a fan of this one. Much better out there for the style, like Duvel and Chouffe ones.

Slightly cloudy pale yellow with a fluffy off\f white head that fades slowly and leaves a bit of lace. Nose is earthy hops with citrus (mostly orange peel) and pine as well as lots of yeasty spice. Light caramel sweetness to start with the bold hops providing a great bitterness in the middle which is countered in the end with a peppery spice. Medium oily mouth with average carbonation and a long dry spicy finish. Listed here as a DIPA but listed on the bottle as a Belgian IPA. Definitely has a Belgian yeast character but the hops are enough to not make the yeast the focal point.

Aromas of mango, pineapple, pine, some citrus, white pepper and just a touch of fusel on the back. Golden colour beneath a creamy head that lasts for a while. The taste is definitely bitter balanced with topical fruit coming though. Medium to light bodied, leaving a bitter and slightly spicy after taste. Almost a winner, but just falls short in one or two areas.

Lots of white head. Aroma of Belgian triple and grapefruit. Powerful citrus hops balanced by malty trippel with taste of honey and orange.

Alpha10 (830) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 30, 2014
2014/06/30 - Pours a clear, orange/amber colour with a thick, foamy, off whit head that mostly lingers. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, flowery hops, pine, citrus and spices. Taste is Belgian yeast, mild pine, earthy tones and mild citrus. Medium to full body with fizzy carbonation and a drying, chalky finish. Not much of a malt profile to speak of, but enjoyable nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from LCBO. Pours clear and golden with a white head. Aroma of spice and wood. Taste is sweet and spicy with pine and resin. Medium-full body. Not bad, bit not the best Belgian IPA.

Canmoore (496) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 29, 2014
Pours a clear gold, with a beautiful huge frothy head. Aroma is quite muted, but some notes of Belgian yeast and piney hops. Tasting notes include Belgian yeast, fiery piney hops, and some notes of citrus. For an Imperial IPA, there is very little in the way of hops in the palate. The Belgian yeast pairs well with the Hops, but the malt is lost in the mixture. Still a great beer, and quite complex!

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with large, dense white head. Aroma is big on Belgian yeast, flowers, light tree fruits and coriander. Flavour is Belgian yeast, lemon, pear, floral hops and coriander. Drying, modestly bitter finish. Rather nice.

HogTownHarry (7065) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - JUN 7, 2014
Weirdly skinny 650ml bottle from LCBO. Pours hazy slightly bubbly gold with a huge lasting fizzy-foamy white head. Smells like a Belgian IPA all right - intensely floral, borderline sweet (oddly like nectarine) but quite dry and - no lie - an Islay iodine/seaweed/tar funkiness - interesting, if weird. Taste - wow, really solid, if sweet - not much funk, but a real kick to it - mostly pugent dried wildflowers and background fruitiness; IPA/mild Tripel blend. Average body, airy, increasingly dry from all the dry hop bitterness and building alcohol. Nice!
