Woah Nelly was this ever good. If this really is a one-time offering that never returns I consider it a tragedy. Citrus on the nose, if you close your eyes and sip, it at first just tastes like a regular good quality IPA with a bit of grainy depth from the black malt. But the Belgian finish gives a sweet tone that blends well with the bitterness, does not clash in any way. No alcohol. Top shelf beer. barncatmatt (2286) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 24, 2012
bomber shared by jsprime, with me and joel. deep brown, minimal tan head, undercarbonated. nose isnt overly expressive, some hops and dark malt. the flavour is similar but really starts to build as it warms. this went from being a 3.3 to a 3.7 by the end of the glass. solidfunk (9788) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - NOV 22, 2012
This smells great from the get-go. Citrus and tangerine. Pours clear but black, if that makes sense. Some decent head and great lacing.
Hops smells pretty good. Not super bitter but just enough with some sweetness. A touch of fruit on the end of this. On tap at volos. Johnsense (1818) - - NOV 16, 2012
Big thanks to Kevin for bringing this by. Blaca k pour, small khaki coloured head. Coffee, Juicy citrus fruit, belgian yeast and roast in the aroma. and grapefruit up front, Coffee, dark cocoa, roasted malt, Belgian yeast - nothing overpowers the hops, which are the showcase here and it all works together very well. medium body. Deep, dark pour with a thick brown head. Aroma is nice - candied grapefruit with a hint or roasted malts. Flavour is grapefruit with some sweetness and the slightest bit of funk along with burnt toast. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. The taste was lighter than it looks. Alcohol well hidden. A sipper.

On tap. Black pour, very low tan head. Aroma is hoppy bitter, dark chocolate, roasted malt, hints of molasses, breadiness and dark fruit. Slick and bitter throughout. This was a sipper. Interesting yeasty elements combined with the hops and a burnt toast backbone. Not bad balance. Big bitter dry finish. I enjoyed it. Not a session though, that’s for sure. Single bottle purchased from a Co-op Liquor Store in Calgary, AB on 11/14/2012. Colour: well....black. High head that doesn’t go anywhere and is light brown. Nose: thick hot fudge sauce, tar, sport card bubble gum, brandy. Taste: medium-light sweet, medium bitter, medium-high sour. Dominant with thick sour and bitter tar. Not as sweet as the nose would have suggested, but some traces of dark cocoa. Beef gravy. Turnip. Truly a meal and the alcohol is hidden well, but just doesn’t seem complete for some reason... From bottle at the Only Fall Beer Festival. Pours a very dark brown with a good-sized tan head. Big green, citrusy hop nose with solid roastiness and only really a hint of spiciness from the Belgian yeast. Flavour has a more prominent roasty character with green, citric hops and some light Belgian yeasty notes. Nice finish balanced between roastiness and hoppy bitterness. Fine carbonation. Quite good. jercraigs (11141) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 12, 2012
2012-11-08. Very dark brown-black bod with a small tan head and nice head and lace. Good amount of leafy green hops in the aroma, modest dry roast malt, muted cocoa undertones. 7+ Flavour is similar with a leafy green hop character, mild dry roast, modest bitterness throughout, surprising amount of chocolate malt in the background grows more prominent in the finish. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Very nice! Pours a dark black with a medium brown coloured head. The aroma is strong grapefruit and floral hops, with a cotton candy Belgian yeast notes at the start but more of a spiciness after. The flavour is sweet roasted malts with a bit of floral hop and a decent bitterness. enjoyable a different take on the CDA
