Clear dark purple to red brown beer, big creamy beige to yellow head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: yes, lovely smell, caramel, malty, sweet, lots of dried fruits, some vanilla, chocolate touch. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sweet, lots of chocolate, sugary, some vanilla, alcohol, dried fruits. Aftertaste: alcohol, roasted touch, sweet malts, vanilla, lovely stuff!
Dark brown hazy pour without any head. Huge aroma of rye, vinous, boozy, toffee, caramel, butterscotch, chocolate milkshake, dried fruits like figs, plums and raisins. Pours a very dark amber with a moderate tan head. Aromas of caramel, figs, dates, muscovado sugar, marinated fruit, rye bread, barrel character. Taste is caramel and marinated fruit with a deep malt character umderscored by barre notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. UPDATED: NOV 27, 2017 Opaquedaek brown/black beer with a sligt/medium beige head. Medium/heavy aroma; taste starts heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Loads of sweet caramel, whiskey, some fruit and some roast.

Bottle. Color: Dark ruby brown, very thin light brown head. Taste: Syrupy, apple syrup, notes of caramel, marmelade, plums, malt and grain. Lightly hints of wood and whisky. Pretty sweet and dry, in a pleasant way. Little boozy, but the high alcohol percentage is well hidden. Full body, rich taste, below average carbonation. Very complex. On tap at borefts, loved it immensely; re-rated now based on a bottled version. Pours very dark brown, but not black. Almost no head. Aroma is heavy, complex and spicy. Very malty, molasses sweetness, toffee, some red berries, plums. The rye spiciness is beautifully complemented by even more spiciness from the barrel-aging in rye whisky barrels. Very complex, rich and balanced. Big body, very spicy and thick on the palate. Flavour is equally complex. Very rich, sweet and very spicy. Honey sweetness, rich maltiness, molasses, figs. Rye grain is very intense, and the rye whisky just increases it. Perfect beer; rye wine with rye whisky barrel-aging - what a great idea! For me the perfect version of a barleywine. It's incredibly balanced despite its richness. Wow!
