Brown pour, not really white at all but maybe lighter than usual. Lots of sweetness in the nose, raisins and dried fruits. Some alcohol heat there, roast, more raisins. Sweet overall but this booze bitterness and roast really do a good job, feels like a great digestive. Brown roast linger in the finish. Very sweet but small sample is definitely extremely enjoyable.

Lots of nice of sherry notes, with oak and aged Chinese liquor. Super sweet. Too sweet. Just big with tons of sherry. I can’t figure out why it’s a right stout. Lots of sherry. Kinda simple and sweet

From notes. Enjoyed on draft at Hunahpu’s Day 2017 on March 11. Had this on draft while talking with Chris, I think his name was. Good guys there. The pour is a nice light black color with a thinner tan head and a good bit of lace as it falls to a thin ring. The aroma is full of sherry barrel. Damn. This one is big. There is a light alcohol and a strong darker fruit profile. There is a light vinousness and a burnt malt as well. The flavor carries a strong malt and a heavy sherry component. There is a wet oak about it and a good bit of dark fruits. This is all over the place. There is a light bitterness to go with the sweet sherry and a decent alcohol. The mouth feel is lighter and softly carbonated with a lingeringly sweet cherry and a bitter malt on the back end. This is interesting.

This is FTA, and it should have been ticked and noted last year. I am actually amazed, how many Põhjala beers I have missed to rate. White stout with a sherry gentleness. What else do u want? Hope there is a bottle of it available somewhere.

[email protected] Stylish and balanced though a bit boozy. Vanilla, plum, bourbon notes and some alcohol coming trough. Medium/strong body and light/medium carbonation. Overall, quite complex though too boozy.

[email protected] K Kurvi, Helsinki. Black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, alcohol, mild toffee as well as some slight sherry and wooden notes to it. Flavour is quite similar, with the booze being quite evident, but yet not to a disturbing level. Balanced, and a good night cap beer...

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at William K Kurvi, 20160706) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, vanilla, vineousness and wood. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, vanilla, vineousness, booze, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, boozy and bitter. A bit too boozy to be good.

Aroma: chocolate, alcohol, roasty dark bread. Appearance: black, clear, tan foam, no head-disappears immediately. Taste: heavy sweetness, medium bitterness. Palate: surprisingly thin body, oily texture, light carb. Slightly astringent bitter aftertaste.
