3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured up at Flanny’s Arizona on Tap Festival with a nice glowing opaque copper body with gold edges and supporting an off white head. The aroma offers up sweetness with apricot as well as prune and raisins rounded out by a light yeastiness. Mostly the aroma comes off pretty sweet and fruity. The taste is similar with fruity notes like apricot and peach and then dark fruity ester notes like prunes and raisins. To midway it lightens up some with a mix of vague hops and kind of yeasty spices. Additional sips and as it warms some more and more yeasty spices come to the front.
On tap at Phoenix Ale Brewery, pours a hazy copper amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out sweet caramel and cereal malts, as well as some Belgian yeast. Flavour is inauthentic, with sweet Belgian yeast and cereal malt. Difficult style to nail, and this certainly isn’t anywhere close. It’s pleasant enough as a miscellaneous beer of some sort though. Draft at the source. Hazy deep amber color, tan head. Aroma of lightly funky fruit. Taste is fruity caramel. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - OCT 1, 2015
12-oz. bottle. Murky dark copper pour with a very brief head. The fruity aromas of fragrant apple, plum, and golden raisin fill the nostrils along with caramel syrup, a light sherry tone, and minor esters of bubblegum and faint pear. Quite sugary taste from the start before cinnamon-sprinkled apples and dense bread flavors join the fray. Hints of green grapes and plums add to the sweetness before a bitter copper tone brings them to a halt. A decent bière de garde; this bottle is much better than the previous time I tried the brew on draft. BelgianBeerGal (4160) - Panama City, Florida, USA - NOV 23, 2013
Sun Devil bottle. Bronze and amber color with a thin tan ring around the edges. Aroma is sweet malt with a hint of honey. Flavor is pretty true-to-form for a biere de garde with light astringency. Not a style I’m terribly familiar with but this was pleasant. kenmend (1) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - OCT 27, 2013 does not count
Drink from tap. One of my favorite Arizona beers. Perfect combination of malty and smooth Belgian flavor.

Probably the best one I’ve had from this brewery. From a bottle. Pours darker than amber with a thin head. Mild aroma of grains, slight caramel, strong ale. Flavor is more prominent than the aroma, like a strong ale with belgian undertones, a lot of caramel but not sweet per se. Medium bodied. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Gold pour white head. Light and crisp beer. Some spent grain, floral notes, a bit of yeast, light lemon flavors.
