Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Mar 2010 - Amber in colour. Malty; sweet malts, caramel. Fruity; orange citrus. Hoppy; flowery hops. Sweet fruity malty throughout with a dry slightly bitter finish. Not bad. Drinkable. (2010-03)

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon, orange, some honey, slight apple and subtle perfume hops. Taste of honey, apple, some caramel, slight lemon, a little orange and subtle perfumey hops. Light bodied and a grainy texture. A dryish, slightly appley, citrus hop bitterness in the finish. It’s not a bad beer, the apple actually adds to the character of this pale, zesty ale. It’s just thin and grainy for a 5%er.

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall London as ’Phoenix Double Gold’. Golden yellow, clear and still, scummy beige head. Aroma is airy, faint sugars. Body is light, soft carbonation. Taste is quite watery, musty, touches of glue and citrus, lacking punch and bitterness. Quite watery and sugary. Hmm, it’s ok. Sort of like a thin hop tea with some honey added. Not far off being a decent beer I think, but not doing it for me on today’s showing.
