Can see that a lot of people have had this in sub-prime condition. This was cask; Queen’s Head, Chelmsford.
Frothy lacing; copper gold colour, aroma is citrus hops, lemons, marzepan and grapefruit, quite grainial. Taste is grapefruit, citrus, oranges, good bitterness. Very sessionable and enjoyable. A great bitter. harrisoni (18578) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - DEC 16, 2005
UPDATED: OCT 6, 2010 Cask handpull at Westgate, JDW, Canterbury. Can’t tell whether this is diacetyl heavy or its supposed to have som much buttery toffee on it, but given everyone else’s reviews I tend towards the former. Butterscotch and hop on aroma, bit bready too. OK in mouth, bit sour with hop on finish, which is really quite drying. Default score 525213 2.7/5.0. Re-rate cask handpull County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Loved it, I had two pints in half an hour. The hops were superb. The diacetyl wasn’t anywhere present on this. Just lovely hops, tangerine and orange fruit. Good hoppy finish. Hand pulled at the Briar Rose (JDW), Birmingham. Orange colour, no head. Delicious brew. Fruity, light; yet thick, sweet, hoppy and fulsome. Lemon/orange citric tart finish. I tend to agree with Silk here, this is a Golden Ale tending towards APA. Recommended. EFC1878 (315) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - NOV 20, 2008
Cask various locations. Dark golden colour with decent white head - resembles Sierra Nevada PA. Citrus hop aroma. Full bodied, malty with a good bitter finish. Phoenix can do much better, though. DougShoemaker (3147) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2010
Fine malt nose and some fruit, auburn, small toffee head, loads of lace. Flavour is a full on malt, red plums some woody notes. Light bodied, well balanced, fine bitterness, too easy to drink. Terrific session!

Cask pint in The Sir John Moore (JDW), Glasgow. A deep golden colour. A bit hazy. Only a touch of head. Svesse (8601) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 5, 2006
(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Amber/copper colour with thick white head. Nose is fruity with citrus and hops. Fruity taste with hints of citrus and apricots. Long, fairly dry, hoppy and bitter finish. Lots of taste for the rather low ABV. berkshirejohn (6502) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 29, 2008
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.Pale gold with a loose white head; citrus aroma; strong sharp grapefruit flavour; full and dry at first then becoming sweeter. A sharp bitter finish. Excellent. bobinlondon (1295) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2008
Handpulled cask at JDW Harrow earlier this year. Pake brown with a white head. A vert well balanced bitter with complex citrus hop flavours. Very enjoyable. BlackHaddock (7346) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2012
21st April: opening of the refurbished ‘Elephant and Castle’ in Dawley, Shropshire. Hand pulled pint of a golden misty body, on top a thin crown of white bubbles sat throughout the tasting.
The smell was of citrusy hops with floral overtones, only a suggestion of malts in the nose.
The taste was a pleasant blend of those aforementioned hop flavours and a malt caramel feel.
Body depth fine for the alcohol content: an OK beer but no world beater.
