Pours dark, almost black, not much head. Deep aroma of vanilla, some coffee. Reasonably light in the mouth. Not bad. jimmay (807) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - APR 23, 2011
500 ml bottle from NBLC. Pours deep brown, almost black, with pib frothy cappucino coloured head. Aroma and taste are nice roasted, a little bitter as well. HogTownHarry (7062) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - FEB 17, 2011
February 19, 2010 tasting with blankboy, garthicus, gregclow, jerc & mabel. Shared by jerc & mabel. Black pour, with a large lasting creamy off-white head. Have to admit, my notes are a bit incoherent, this was the last beer of a long night, but here goes. Aroma and flavour both are roasty, some light cocoa, dry and herbal, no cola or syrup character, mild alcohol - simple, solid, decent. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel, mild carbonation, slightly quick finish - not fantastic, but easy to drink in quantity. Under other circumstances. Originally rated November 2009. Bought this one in Edmonston, N.B. when I was on tour with my band. Pours a dark brown (almost black) colour with hardly any highlights and its head is huge, light brown, super creamy, very long-lasting and beautiful thick lacing. Nice aromas of chocolate and burnt malts with notes of coffee and candy. Medium-bodied with a wet smooth and velvet mouthfeel. The taste is pretty smooth too. Not too bitter, not too roasted, not too sweet, but all of them well-mixed in one mouthful. Should have a bit more kick. Overall, pretty good though and a beautiful looking pint. A deep dark stout with a super thick and frothy brown head. In aroma, lightly sweet chocolate, coffee, herbaceous notes and musty caramel. In mouth, a lightly sour bitter chocolate with loads of roasted coffee, lightly powdery mouthfeel, a bit of lactic points. Medium bodied. A tad intense and unbalanced.

from bottle - pours a fairly thick, dark head. carbonation is barely noticeable to the point it almost seems flat. taste is coffee, caramel and wood with a very light mouthfeel for the style. fairly bitter and the bitterness is long-lived on the palate. As Picaroon’s offerings go, this is probably one of the worst, but it seems that most microbrewerys want to offer a stout, so, considering that, it’s typical fair. Black with a large thick brown head. Aroma of bread/ toast malt. Taste of toast and vinegar! quite bitter. Spab (3963) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2010
500 ml bottle from Premier Wine & Spirits. Pours a dark, slightly reddish brown with large, creamy, lacey tan head. Roasty aroma with coffee and chocolate. Very nice taste with roasty coffee notes and semisweet chocolate with some light earthy green hops giving a little bitterness in the finish. Pleasant and quite drinkable. Liquide totalement noir.
Thanks to Jerc & Mabel for sharing this. Appearance: Pitch black, tiny brown head. Aroma: Coffee, malt, chocolate and cocoa. Flavour: Light malt, chocolate, cocoa again with some very light coffee in the finish. Not bad. Sessionable.
