Cask by handpump at 3 Judges, Glasgow - black ale, bubbly beige head, chocolate malt aroma, some lacing, coffee / chocolate malt flavour, oily feel, rather bitter for a porter
Cask at The Hop Inn, Newcastle-Under-Lyme. A deep brown colour with a medium of white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some caramel, slight coffee and subtle marshmallow. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee, slight earth, a little caramel, a hint of dark fruits and subtle biscuit. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dryish, dark fruit and roasted bitterness in the finish. A nice, tasty porter. Good roasted and chocolate flavours to begin with and ending with some fruit and earthiness. Cask, on gravity, at Tewkesbury Winter Beer Festival, 5/2/2016. Black in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of toasty malts, plain chocolate and leafy hops with some liquorice in the background. Flavour had more fruit, chocolate and a dryish finish. Enjoyable. Wellington, Birmingham. Black beer with red tint and medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, red fruit and a little coffee. Good.
Tasted this in the Three Judges, Glasgow on the 27th February 2015. Cask, handpump dispense. Black ruby in colour with a thin off white head. Strong malty aroma with burnt grain husks very much in evidence. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a robust maltloaf base with strong roast malt to the fore and burnt grain flavours dominate the palate, along with bitter chocolate. There is a slight bitter prickle of hop resins percolating though in the short aftertaste. Finish is malty with sweet notes of treacle and dark bournville chocolate present in the mouth. This is a decent porter, full of complexity. Well recommended. gegwilson (3708) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2015

NWAF 23 Jan 13. Svart. Lavt luftig skum. God sviskearoma. Søt. Smaken er tørr frukt med litt røstethet i bakgrunnen. Bra integrert. Litt tørr ettersmak.
