7/20/2011: Piece Bellend Bitter... Aroma: Butterscotch and earthy hops. Appearance: Hazy, bright coppery-orange color. Flavor: Tastes a bit watery; light brown sugar and a touch of butterscotch; earthy-herbal bitterness that is mild to moderate in strength overall; very dry; very, very weak roastiness. Palate: Medium body; average mouthfeel, feel "fuzzy." Overall: WEAK; lacks something; I dont like the butteriness.

Draught (4.0% ABV) at Piece in Chicago, IL. Rating #18 for this beer.

Draft at Piece. Transparent orange, oily top with thin white ring. Nose is very sweet orange, candy-like, also mint, bit of dusty yeast as well. Flavor is equally sweet orange at front, candy dissolving into caramel malt mid before light cardboard and lemon in sugary white bread finish. Finishes on an orange soda note, carbonation and fruit too high with little malt support.

[Tap] Pours a dark shade of gold with a lasting cap of white foam on top. Good looking lacing. Aroma of crisp floral hops and mild grass. The taste is a bit grainy. Grassy hops, toffee, biscuits and dinner rolls in the flavor. Nice balance. Average carbonation and mouthfeel. Very sessionable and mild. A good bitter.

First, I am SHOCKED by the low reviews on this fantastic beer, you hopheads need to learn how to appreciate a full-flavored, refreshing low alcohol brew! Growler from the brewpub pours hazy brownish-amber with little head and no lacing, little retention. Aroms is fresh baked bread, biscuit, caramel, little to no hop aroma. Taste pure bread with hints of caramel and earthy hops. Body is medium with low carbonation and a dryish finish. Super refreshing after the bike ride (in 90 degree Chicago heat I must add) I took to procure this delicacy.

On tap at brewpub. Pours hazy light copper with little to no head. Served too cold and mouthfeel is flat. Aromas of bready malts, caramel, and some citrus. Flavors of light citrus, bit of bread, and caramel metallic malts. Little flavor and my least favorite Piece beer I have had.

Tap. Pours light copper with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, toast, meal), light earthy hops, and light fruity esters. Flavor is moderate malt with light-medium hop bitterness. Light body, low warmth, medium carbonation and a dry finish.

On-tap at the pub. Ive had this twice nice, first time was at On Photon I believe... Pours a dark peach color, a bright off white head, solid cap... The aroma is light toffee, not bad, too light... The taste is really bland, a touch of toffee, nothing else. The finish is bitter metallic so that really hurts this. Not a big fan of this, twice is enough for me.

Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a glowing orange amber hue, a nice haze, frothy offwhite decent head laces ok, a larger ring clings on. Aromas are bread dough, some toasty malts, florals and grassy hops with a touch of lemon rind. Mellow orange fruit, touches of toast and biscuits. Initial is lighter bodied with orange and some buttery biscuits, toast, bread, and mellow oranges. Touches of florals and orange fruit, some sweet grains and cereal. Mellow and light, easily drinkable but could use a dash more in the hop department. A bit mellow, buttery quality gets a bit ditracting to me. Still an ok lower ABV bitter for sessioning. Oranges. A bit dissappointing with the buttery aspect, but a sessioner that has a good vibe at only 4 percent.
