Dark brown body that approaches black with a moderately sized brown head. Slightly roasted aroma of toasted grains, dark chocolate, light smoke, malt and a bit of licorice. A smooth, creamy body with subtle carbonation makes for an enjoyable drinking experience. The flavors are well assembled giving a nice balance to the various malt aspects. It seems to be rather well attenuated, leaving very little residual malt sweetness. Noble, earthy hops provide just a touch of bitterness at the end. A tasty interpretation of the style.

Medium, semi-translucent brown in color. Aroma is dry chocolate shavings and a faint trace of tiramisu. In typical flavor fashion, chocolate and roasted malts strive for attention in a gentle fashion. Pecans along with a hint of iced coffee come through to lick the palate as well. Light with low bitterness, and dry, as it should be. Nice, easy going, safe interpretation, yet a solid effort.

A dark, sweet beer of indeterminate origins, this bastard child of backroom malt roasting followed close on the heels of Ooga Ooga!. Mild with a clean bitter finish. Chocolate malt balls detected, along with syrup-drenched nuts and some fruits.

This draft brew poured a small sized head of finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and dark black in color. Its aroma contained notes of very mild malts and was almost non-existent. Its mouth feel is initially very tingly with a lingering tingly palate and a mild brown beer aftertaste. Its flavor contained malty dark brown malt notes. .

On tap at piece. P is a pretty clear amber brown w a grey head that dissipated and laces only slightly. Nose is rich Malta but light. Taste is a light nutty roasted malt. A nice change of a nutty rosary beer that is clean tasting , low wlv and drinkable.

Draught: charred brown body with a nicely sized tan head. Roasted and toasted aroma with a bit of charred wood, burnt coffee, smoke, and chocolate malt. The black malt is actually dynamic: charred on one hand and freshly bitter on the other. Clean, crisp palate, drinkable and enjoyable in just one package. Nice.

Taster at Piece. Here I had thought this was just a nice dark English ale. Bartender was kind of busy, so I wasn’t bothering him for specifics. But a Schwartz? Nah. My tiny amount looked cloudy brown, with a distinct fruity ale smell. A very nice "Irish Red" ale malt profile, and just a twinge of European finishing hops. I kind of regret not getting a whole glass of this.

aroma of light roast. flavor of cola and iced coffee. some sweetness but not overpowering. soft mouthfeel with some sizzle from hops. very controlled sweetness for the style makes this a winner.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown, beige head. Toasty malt and some chocolate in the aroma. Toffee, dark bread crust, light chocolate, and faint hops in the flavor. Seems a bit muted overall. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Sweetish overall with a round malt profile, but could be brighter.

Draft. Pretty decent one here, more of a a half dunkel half schwarz, roasty malt but sweetish too, grainy., easy to slam
