On tap at the brewery...This is one of the best Piece beers hands down...Pours a super dark orange throughout, lightly see through. Light tan head, not much retention or lacing...The aroma is light with orange and maltiness on the front, light hops at the back. Its nice but not strong enough bitter for a dipa...The taste is what sets this aparts, its a really sweet and easy to drink dipa. Super sweet but nice orange and caramel on the front. Light pine on the back. Not much pine or hops for an ipa let alone a dipa. however, its so tasty and hides the 11% so great.
Overall, a sweet and super easy to drink dipa. This is really good and you should seek this out. Its not for hop heads though and the description of being a destroyer of palates is not accurate. msante79 (2227) - Mount Prospect, Illinois, USA - JUN 27, 2010
On tap at Piece. Pours murky orange with small white head. Aromas of dank hops, grapefruit, pine, and sweet malts. Flavor of bright citrus with grapefruit, pine, and sweet malty backbone. Finishes bitter and citrusy. This is a big beer and ABV is barely noticeable. Lots of caramel sweet maltyness but more than enough hops to carry this one through. Truly great IIPA. drfabulous (9224) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUN 24, 2010
Draught at brewpub. Waitress called it a Triple IPA! Fantastic flavor and aroma. Lots of grapefruit in the hops (Simcoe?). Malty and sweet. Very tasty. Best of the night. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUN 19, 2010
Draft at Piece. Poured an attractive murky dark orange color. The head was two fingers high and light orange with good retention and lacing. Smelled of sweaty hop, pine, and citrus. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with mild bitterness. The sugars were well balanced with the bitterness. Grapefruit, subdued caramel, lime, and sweaty hop flavors. Yum. drewbeerme (3921) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 12, 2010
Draft at piece, pours murky orangish brown off white head. Nose has sweet caramel, grapefruit, pinnapple, flavors are very sweet caramel and brown sugar with phenolic notes met with red fruit and grapefruit bursting and bittering hops. This is pretty freakn bitter but lacks a great aroma and flavor as it’s a bit messy.

Tap at piece poured into a snifter... Pours a murky and muddled dirty orangey caramel brown with a thin just off-white head... Big fruity hop nose with juicy Perfumey tropical and pacific northwest hops... Flavors follow suit pretty seemlessly with an abundance of tropical fruit forward with red grapefruit and a semi-bitter finish. A fair amount of caramel malts back things up and provides some balance. Body and carbonation bode well. I get a bit more bitterness with this moreso than their other dipas.
Perhaps a little bit on the sweet side but still pretty good. deyholla (12937) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 8, 2010
On tap. Poured a slightly hazy orange with a white head that laced a bit. Aroma was full of pine hops with a bit of underlying sweet grains and grassy hops. Flavor was similar with very strong pine hops and a bit of a sweet grain kick at the finish. NobleSquirrel (3437) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 7, 2010
Draft at Piece. Pours a very murky bronze/orange with dissipating head. Nose is tons of floral and fruity hops with some pine notes in the background. The alcohol peaks through as well. On taste, it is huge, it is hoppy and floral. The alcohol kicks you in the teeth as well. Apricot and sweet booze notes as well. Super chewy. Wow, way too big in my book. Another strong Double IPA from Piece - I still think I like Camel Toe better, but H...Oppenheimer is a good beer itself. Pours orange with a very thin head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops dominate. Enough malt backing to handle the hops - but this is a strong drink @ 11%. Nice bitter flavor throughout, I thought it was well done.
