growler. aroma is nicely advanced caramel that touches on toffee and the beginnings of delectable toast. appearance is perfectly clarified copper with nice head that reduces and laces well. flavor is delicious toastiness with hints of plum and more caramel. soft, fruity, maple syrup as well. plum moves to sweet grape. no cloying caramel in sight. i was a bit worried at tackling 64oz of an altbier but this is a surprise. Sample at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber-brown color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Top ring of lacing with strings underneath. Caramel malt in the nose with touches of fruit. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, caramel, fruit and some hops. The finish is malty with a caramel aftertaste. Above average overall. Draft at Brewpub. Pours a coppery amber with a fading head. Nose is a bit fruity and distant roast type character. light caramel-cocoa comes through in the taste, along with a crisp dried fruit note. Clean and clear. Pretty decent and standard. ryanscourt (1476) - Latrobe, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 2, 2015
Solid altbier. Great blend of flavors. Hard to get excited about a bland low hop beer with l the aggressive IPAs but this is nice. PilsnerPeter (3046) - Flushing, New York, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Tap at the brewpub: Bronzeish copper with an off white fading ring of head. Malty aroma with a mild fruity presence with some caramelized malt and a touch of raisin. Crisp mouthfeel. Has a fairly clean and malty flavor. Mild caramel meshes with a lean raisin note and toasted pale malts toward the back. A decent interpretation of the style.

Deep copper pour. The nose is lightly crackery and caramelly with a little bit of malty sweetness. Toasty and chewy with a bit of medium crystal malt sweetness in spite of the beer being well-attenuated. There is a kiss of lightly spicy German hops and a light breadiness as well. Good balance, although it does tend to the sweeter side of things. hombrepalo (1971) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2011
16oz Pint at Piece. Copper in color with a thick white head. Slightly bitter and hoppy aroma with some malts underneath. Very dry and bitter at the start of the flavor with a smooth and slightly corny malt middle. Very dry and bitter on the aftertaste.

Pours copper with a light off white/tan head. Caramel malt aroma, slightly sweet. Clean malty flavor and good balance. Decent altbier. drdisque (840) - Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Pours on the dark side for an alt. Initial flavour is slightly roasted malt but not overwhelming and very balanced. A little bit sweet and fruity but again, pretty restrained. Lingering malty finish. deyholla (11605) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 15, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of sweet malts and bread with a bit of backing grassy hops. Flavor was similar but a bit thin. There was only a hint of grass and the sweet grains and bread notes were lighter as well.
