Sampled at FoBAB 2010. You know I had to try a beer named after a Tom Waits song. Black pour with nice tan head. Aroma of bourbon, smoke, spice. Chocolate, some nuts. Flavor is smokey bourbon chocolate. Vanilla, oak, all really nice. Full mouthfeel. great beer. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - NOV 12, 2010
FoBAB 2010: Mahogany to deep brown hue, minimal head nor lace (this is an Imperial Stout?) The aroma is a bit fishy and funky, herbal, grassy, coffee, chocolate, walnut and earthy tobacco esters. The taste has some nice meaty and woody smoke, earthy yeast undertone, sweet malts, vanilla snaps and moderate bourbon influences before a weird pungent fruity finish (apricot, mango, pineapple). The mouth feel is smooth and slightly warming. An okay brew but not up to the hype. Too weird and all over the place. (Oh, it is more Imperial Porter than Stout IMO) holdenn (2127) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 9, 2010
Sampled at FOBAB ’10. Black with a beige head. Smoky spice aroma lots of rauch malt. Light sweetness thin body. Roast malts some spice thin and somewhat weak flavors. Not bad overall though. 8/4/7/3/15

Finally got a chance to try this one at FoBAB 8. Of note, this is actually a strong porter made with smoked malt. Nose is smokey and nice. Earthy and chocolate, barbecue and some nice vanilla bourbon notes. The bourbon is very restrained, which is fantastic. It balances the beer out very well. Nice smokiness to the body that really ties it all together. Fantastic beer and one of my favorites from Piece! User29624 (1687) - - AUG 2, 2008
I might have been able to sneak my way into just a little taster of this tonight. I am so glad I was able to try it, because I was so disappointed I missed it earlier this year. Just from the little taster I got, it poured black with a tan head. Nice aroma. Very little carbonation, but the beer was very smooth. Nice bourbon flavor. This was really enjoyable I look forward to have similar beers from them in the future. Thanks Andy. pintsize (1041) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 4, 2008

Nice black pour with a huge great tan head. Great bourbon nice smell. Flavor is bourbon and malt and roasted nuts. No present alcohol. Great thick creamy dense palate with little to no carbonation. Stellar beer!!
Draft... DLD’08... This beer rocks!... Pours pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, khaki-colored head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is of chocolate and sourmash with intoxicating vanilla pipe tobacco and coconut. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. Lots of acidic sourmash and mildly sweet chocolate. Very smooth and mellow with no alcohol burn. The wood has rid the Big Black Mariah of any “rough-around-the-edges” aspects. Chocolaty, bourbony, lightly tart, woodsy finish. World class beer! railcat1 (706) - Kissimmee, Florida, USA - MAY 4, 2008
This was my first time to Piece and it was nice to see my favorite style on tap out of a bourbon barrel,it was a nice roasty flavor and very rich with a creamy head and nice chocolate overtones and abv was well hidden but the bourbon flavor was really present overall very enjoyable.CHEERS!
