GTMW 2008. The beer was a copper body with a light tan head. The aroma is grapefruit and toffee. The flavor has a floral, toffee, and grapefruit thing going on. A nice creamy palate. MIBRomeo (2579) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 10, 2008
Copper pour ligth tan head with decent lacing. Light cereals and grass in the aroma touch of fruit a piece of raw grains, lots of sweet notes, some hints of grahm cracker. Avg pal. Sweet graham cracker lightly bitter grass flavor fairly acidic, too much alcohol comes through. Not bad but I prefer the camel.
GTMW: Served by a very fun & cute brunette should be worth some bonus points. Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 28, 2008
Pour is deep ruby amber with a thin super sticky tan head...smell is strongly hoppy with citrus flavors (mainly grapefruity)...taste is sweet with toffe and caramel and a thick chewy mouthfeel...hops come out in the finish with a nice citrusy filavor... pnista (1007) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAR 14, 2008
On tap at Piece. Pours a darker brownish for a barleywine with a fine bubbled cream colored head. Maybe a bit of haze, but it’s dark in piece, so who the hell knows? The nose is rather sweet, but not cloying. Round full darker malt is present, alcohol well hidden, significant hopping, of the floral variety, though not even close to over the top, balanced. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with decent enough viscosity. The flavors are right up there with the nose. Deeper richer dark malt sweetness. No roast, not much chocolate, but loads of caramel. Still, not cloying. The alcohol restrains it. The hops help too, with a very floral note to them. Nice bit of dark fruit in here too. Really good fresh young barleywine. I can see this developing decently, acquiring some leathery characteristics.. xnoxhatex (1305) - Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA - MAR 13, 2008
On tap at the brewery. Darker amber malt with large beige head. Aroma is big citrus hops and dark caramel with toffee and just a hint of alc. Flavor is very hot hop spice that overpowers the nice sweet caramel and toffee malt, plum and other dark fruits get thrown in there as well. Syrupy thick body with some creaminess. A nice over the top, American style barleywine. I’ll take another please.

I was pretty impressed with this, lots of flavor and a nice thickness without being too syrupy. Could drink alot of this, its almost sucks that the ABV is so high, you gotta take them slow. It even looked good, dark orange in a snifter. Makes me sad that we are going to start seeing a bunch of lame spring and summer seasonals. jimbowood (1036) - Freeport, Georgia, USA - MAR 8, 2008
Draft from the BP. Very malty w/ a hint of hoppy spice. A nice barley wine. Driftwood6 (214) - USA - MAR 4, 2008
On tap at brewpub. I don’t know-- drinking this all I kept thinking about was how good that Behemoth tasted on tap at 3F the previous weekend. I guess my point is-- this barley is very decent, but nothing unique or outstanding. I guess it hides the alcohol ok, but flavor could use a little more kick. User29624 (1687) - - MAR 2, 2008
From the cask at Night of the Living Ales. Pours dark amber. Nose is of malts, a little citrus, and some dark fruits and raisin. The flavor has a some caramel, spices, fruit, and just a little hops to balance. I didn’t think it hide the alcohol as well as some other barleywines I have had. Still, another solid brew from Piece. hombrepalo (1972) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 1, 2008
on tap at the brew pub. Dark amber with small head, flat looking. Sweet and caramel nose. Thick taste of malt, hops, carmel, some alcohol, and somewhat syrupy. Overall nice barleywine. yummy!
