On tap at brewpub’s release party. Nose is nice balance of malts and citrus hops, some raisin. Flavor is raisiny sweet with some citrus bitterness. Sllight peppery alcohol note is barely perceptable. Slightly vegetal from fresh hops I suspect. Palate is slightly syrupy, though pleasantly so. Finishes with a slight pleasant hop bitterness. nicely done. bager (2120) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2007
On tap @ the brewpub. Hazy dark amber coloured with a small head. Very powerfull with notes of caramel, malt, fruits, dried fruits, spices and pines. Terminus (3716) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 11, 2007
tap at repeal prohibition festival at Schalfly. cloudy dark orange/copper with a rocky beige head. nose is very dark fruit layered with sweet alcohol. WOW, talk about a big barley here-huge caramel flavors with touches of dark fruit, resin and some green hops. Carbonation is sharp, which hinders the experience. There is quite a bit of complex things going on here, but doesnt really have much direction. THe flavors are very indifinitive. Long caramel and fruity finish. pretty decent. shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAY 5, 2007
Pours a hazy deep amber color with a tan head. Aroma is malty caramel with grassy, citrus hops. Flavor is malty, caramel, with a bitter citrus hop finish. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 24, 2007
Dark tan leather color. Very sweet without the earthiness. Tangy and noticeable alcohol. Some hop bitterness in the end. Long finish. Sugar sweet flavors. Some old banana flavor in there too when it gets really dark skin and mushy.

#1034, On tap at the brewery. Hazy copper orange with just a bit of a tan frothy head. The nose is sweet, malts and hops. Dark fruits. The taste is more malty and alcoholy initially. Later hops come out more and show how hopped this thing is. Now when this thing is near room temp watch out. Sweet suggary with tons of dark fruit. Almost an entirely different beer. Alcohol seems less as it warms. Very drinkable and good. vyvvy (6731) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 12, 2007
Sampled at Schlafly’s Repeal of Prohibition Fest along with Beerdrenched. Pours hazy deep orange with a frothy tan head. The aroma has cotton candy sweetness, toasted malt, tobacco and green hops. Full body with some fizzy carbonation. The flavor starts with toasted grainy malt with a moderate amount of sweetness with some fruitiness and grassiness. The finish is very sweet with apparent ABV and caramel. Okay barleywine. kwoeltje (2234) - Manchester, Missouri, USA - APR 7, 2007
(draught at Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival) Dark amber with very large head. Malt aroma. Flavor is warm malt and some hops with alcohol. NobleSquirrel (3439) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 6, 2007
This one was a hop monster, very much in line with the Piece house thing. Very creamy mouthfeel, super hopped. Damn tasty. Similar to Bigfoot, but had it’s own nuances. tasty! RAYBOY01 (2010) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 25, 2007
Highly hopped barley wine...I’m in, pour me another one! On tap at Piece...shared with El_Borracho and some friends from Iowa. Big malt bomb upfront...all roasty caramel and toffee with dried fruits and brown sugar. But then the hop attack begins and what a nice surprise visit that turned out to be. The visitor was mainly of the PNW variety...grapefruit and pine...and very potent. The high abv was well hidden but showed up in the very dry finish.
