Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Surprised to find a new entry here. Pours a nice deeper copper hazy pour, nice glowing orange, amber glow. Frothy offwhite head atop is sizable, good stick around and lacing. Aromas are a bit carmelized, gentle earthiness, spice, faint florals and toast. Initial is medium bodied, touches of toast, biscuit and carmelized malt, faint dark fruit meets earthy hop, subtle spice. A gentle giryth but not as toasty or rich as other examples. Some toast, carmelized elements preach harder into that backend. Earthy hop, faint spice, but that malty life gives the character here. Finish is a bit toasty, carmelized and earthy, gentle spice and earthy hops. A bit spicy as we finish and it really lingers on. Different than your typical Okt. Solid. Draft at piece. Orange and cloudy with white head. Biscuits and malty earth tastes - slightly fruity. Very enjoyable Oktoberfest.

Draft at Piece. Pours a hazed orange with a thinnish white head. Nose is toasty malt and an herbal hop note. Very clean with faint sweetness. On tasting, rich and round malt. Clean and bready. Balanced bitterness overall. Great malt character, drying finish. Really solid Oktoberfest.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear earthy orange with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of malts with notes of bread, hay and grain backed by just a hint of caramel sweetness. Murky red brown with a small head. Light malt aroma with dry tannic toastiness and a touch of earthy hops. Dry and toasty flavor with a tannic bite and just a little sweetness. Coarse body. Pours a murky copper with no head, looks like a soda. Lightly toasted malt aroma. The flavor is almost correct, if not for being too light and the alcohol ruins it. Slightly nutty toasted malt, nice lagered flavor. I could see this recipe being reworked into something delicious.
