On tap @ Piece, Pours black/brown with a small tan head. Aroma: Chocolate, roasted malts, some fruit. Flavor: chocolate, light citrus hoppiness. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 10, 2009
tap at piece on 01/03/09... dark murky brown pour with a thin light tan head... aroma of smooth chocolate, mild roast, and citrus fruits to a lesser extent... flavors amalgamated with an odd combination of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a fair amount of orange flavors that melded to the aformementioned porter qualities. medium to low carbonation. different and worth trying. ilovedarkbeer (2741) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - DEC 27, 2008
I was told that piece has not made a porter in 5 years. I think they are on to something with this one. Small light brown head that is composed of tiny bubbles sits atop a black brown body with red highlights. Nice lacing. Nose is chocolate, coffee, and citrus. Tastes like chocolate covered tangerines. I have never seen a porter that uses really nice and juicy citrus hops. It helps to balance out the dark malt aspects. I dont generally like porters but this was something very different and I enjoyed it.
