UPDATED: OCT 19, 2010 GABF 2009, this one was somwhat disappointing considering how geat the others were. Pale golden color. weak flavor of belgian yeastiness, some floral qualties. Blah 6-3-5-3-11-2.8 GABF 2010 much better.fruity, yeasty, balanced. very nice blonde/ single

Tap at the brewpub: Slightly hazy effervescent pour with a white ring that fades. The aroma is dry and crackery with a pils/pale malt hint and a touch of clove-like phenols. Effervescent palate with an estery flavor. Some banana notes are there but it remains dry with minerally phenols and an herbal mildly bitter finish. Simple, and a bit hefeweizen-like.

Draft at Piece. Pours a hazy pale golden color with a small white head. The nose was yeasty, moderately spicy, and slightly fruity. The flavor is more of the same with yeast, spices, pepper, slightly fruity, and a touch floral. The finish was dry and mouthfeel was light. This was refreshing after my walk from GI Clybourn, but average at best.

BeerBunker (965) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - MAY 29, 2009
Draft at Piece. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is of yeast, hops, spice, citrus, and and straw. Doesn’t smell very appealing. Taste is very spicy with lots of coriander and banana. A decent hop taste with citrus and pine. Not overly flavorful. Very light mouthfeel. A weak offering from Piece.

Tap at Piece. Gold pour. Not great. An odd vegetal or spicy note leads this one off on the wrong foot. I got some yeasty aromas, but not what I expected. Dusty and weird smelling. Flavor isn’t a helluva lot better. Too dry. Too vegetal/spice driven. Even the carbonation wasn’t blending well. Poor effort IMO.

NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2009
Draft at Piece. Pours a cloudy yellow with a fluffy white head. On the nose, it’s a touch skunky and yeasty, muted spices, some banana. Taste is much the same, particularly dry and peppery with a thin body. Somewhat spicy and bananas in the taste as well. Ok.

on tap at piece. pours hazy golden with white head. nose is spicy, pepper, cloves, yeast. flavors are floral, herbal, perfume, pepper, and yeast. drinkable and easy going beer that worked with the pizza.

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2009
On tap at Piece. Poured hazy pale golden with a well-retained short cap of white head. The aroma picked up spicy peppery notes, cloves, and banana esters in a nice yeasty impression.. pale malts and honey supported.. well-balanced if not a tad sweet. The flavor had primarily pale malts at the core with bananas and black pepper surrounding.. moderate perfume and floral bitterness joined, but didn’t necessarily complement the rest of the drink.. finished dry and spicy. Light-to-medium bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. spices were a little much at times, and the bitterness could’ve been toned down too.. otherwise quite drinkable.

HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - JAN 21, 2009
Yeah, it was golden. Pretty light, slightly fruity. Kind of watery. Not sure this was the best choice.
