Poured cloudy amber with off white head. Aroma of grapefuit, citrus, hops (wet) and malty carmel hints. Taste is thick grapefruit, yeasts, a bit of spices ending with carmel. Strong but in a good way. One of the better Piece brews I’ve had the chance to try. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 25, 2008
tap at Piece on 10/25/08.... reddish toffee brown pour, semi-transparent, with a medium off-white head.... piney citrus hops upfront in the nose and well supported by some biscuity caramel malt....citrus hop flavors which start off slight bitter and doesn’t build too much from that point but rather maintains its intensity. some backing malts keeps it balanced. smooth with medium carbonation....a very well made DIIPA. Pour is clear golden amber with a thin white head...smell is deliciously toasty at first with a nice resin note...taste is lightly toasty with a great chewy mouthfeel...a nice light resiny bitterness in the finish...really good... User29624 (1683) - - JUN 9, 2008
Pours a orange color with a thin head. Nice aroma of grapefruit and pine. Very good hoppy flavor and very bitter. Great stuff. I might have had more than one :) WickerBrew (311) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 2, 2008
Very tasty hop monster. I wouldnt have guessed it was so high alcohol if it didnt say on board. Its all citrusy hops, not much sweetness or roastedness. Not the best with food, but for sipping it was perfect. They even do a pretty healthy pour which is nice.

Draft at brewpub. Poured cloudy orange color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Heavy sour citrus aroma. Medium to full body with lively carbonation. Heavy bitter flavor with a solid bittersweet finish of long duration. Good standout brew. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 26, 2008
on tap at piece. pours murky golden-orange with off white head. nose is bursting with grapefruit, green, piney hop resins. flavor is much of the same with a good dose of booze to balance the hops well. this is truly a hop bomb. bitter, and extremely tasty. i love it. stoutchap (423) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2007
On tap at Pizzeria. Nice hoppy aroma with some sweeter notes. Hazy amber color, narrow off-white head. A bit of fruit in the beginning, solid pine hops, and caramel malty finish. Really good IPA - balanced and enjoyable. Would not have pegged it as a Double. Thought the 8.5% was very well hidden. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JUL 22, 2007
On tap at the brewpub. Dark amber in color with a medium ecru-colored head. The aroma was a complex variety of dried fruit from trail mix, pineapple jello, and a balsam pine tree. The flavor can best be described as all the hops of Capt. Kickass with a large dollop of sweet malt syrup mixed into each glass. Heavy beer that will put you to sleep. I like. bager (2120) - Copenhagen N, DENMARK - JUL 12, 2007
On tap @ the brewpub. Hazy dark golden in colour with a small head. Malty withnotes of pineapple, fruits, caramel, grapefruit, pines, and also kinda floral.
