Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Dark brown color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of malt and gingerbread. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted malt, vanilla and gingerbread cookies. The finish is sweet with a ginger and vanilla aftertaste. Pretty good overall. Sampled on draught at the newly opened Pigeon River taproom just outside of Marion, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear dark brown amber colored brew with fast dissipating off-white head that leaves behind minimal lacing and a film top. Aroma of heavy ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and a hint of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, soft carbonation with a liquid gingerbread flavor with additional cinnamon and vanilla. Finish has a quick ginger bite followed by some extra cinnamon vanilla and chocolate bread aftertaste. Those of you who grew up in Milwaukee may even remember visiting Capital Court’s Kookie Cookie House and receive a gingerbread man cookie after telling Santa all the impossible gifts your parents didn’t want to afford. Courtesy of Skyview. Dark brown color with a small head. Big aroma of ginger, vanilla and cinnamon. The flavor is just pounding with ginger. Cinnamon is still there. The base beer is barely noticeable.
