Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of both sweet and roasted malt, , leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, light brown head. Hard roasted malts in the nose with a light underlying Bretty tartness. Medium body, hard roasted malts and again this Bretty tartness. Interesting. 110709

On tap at Brouwer’s for Big Wood, pours pitch black with a tiny foamy ring of tan head. Aroma of mild vanilla, bourbon, and light molasses. Flavour is both sweet and woody, with light vanilla, wood, light roast, and some espresso. Light on the palate for an impy but rich and full of complex flavours. Delicious.

Bottle, 22oz. A black beer topped by a tan head of moderate size. Slightly milky and roasted nose, some chocolate and alcohol blending in. All too weak, but nice. The flavor is roasted, with chocolate, burnt notes and some alcohol. A little milky sourness too. Medium to full body, dry and slighlty warming. Nicely carbonated. The finish is of the lasting kind, roasted, chocolaty and slightly sour. And warming. A decent beer, but nothing I will miss drinking again. 100409

Draft - Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and roast malts. Rich brown head with a jet black body. Lots of woody bourbon notes, chocolate, sweet vanilla and a very light bitter finish. Boozy but nice.

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Pours black with a 5-finger creamy/foamy/clingy dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate and wood. Medium plus body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is oak, chocolate, burnt malt, and arguably vanilla. Or something. Really mouthsmacking. No heat. It just seems to get more chocolaty with time. Quite tasty. Seems to be alive. Seems to oscillate between oak and chocolate. Just can’t get "bourbon" though.

Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a large tan head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong roast, oak and alcohol and dark fruit. Thin mouthfeel with a smokey wood flavor with a very smokey dry finish. Alcohol present but not too overpowering. A very good stout from Pike.

Bottle shared at Noogfest High 5. Poured a black color with a large frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate, woody and alcohol aroma. Heavy bittersweet roasted malty flavor with a heavy sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer.
