COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Hazy copper colour with thin biege head. Grapefruit hop nose. Dry bitter hop taste with lingering hop finish

Bottle in Seattle. Ring of soft offwhite foam on a darker Ruby amber body. Lightly peaty and fruit forward malt aroma. Medium body with dry red fruit skin and a hint of metallic and peaty malts. Boring but enjoyable enough. Soft mid palate with some malt bitterness by finish. Classical American example of style.

Pours a clear copper brown on tap with thin ring of bubbly off-white head that leaves light lace. Aroma and taste of typical scotch ale, earthy hops, sweet and dark malts, a hint of fruity esters, booze is lighter here. Decent.

Had this yesterday but I totally forgot to write it down. Pretty decent, bit heavy and dark -

On tap at brewery on 1st Street, downtown Seattle. Pours clear amber with minimal off-white head and lacing. Aroma: mild whiff of caramel. Flavor: malt-forward; caramel, brown sugar, overly ripe pear, smokey peat to offset sweetness. My son accurately describes it as a roller-coaster ride: sweet, smokey, then fruity. Mouthfeel: medium-bodied, oily, soft on palette.

Draft 8/28/16 (Pike Brewery-SEA)-Pours a colish brown with a small head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and slight smoke. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is not bad but I was expecting more.

3.2
Heidbummer (810) - SCOTLAND - FEB 22, 2017
Taster at brewpub. Pours deep gold. Smoke dominates the aroma. Thickish mouthfeel, soft, almost honeyed. The smoke again dominates, to the detriment of what could have been an otherwise very good beer.

On tap at Pike Brewing. The scotch flavour is dialed back and much more to my liking than most others.

Bomber from total wine. Cola colter with a soft beige head. Aroma of vegetation, a little funk. Taste is caramel, light smoke, dark tangy fruit, rubber, earth. Very interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, courtesy of Arun. Reddish brown colour. American view of what a beer from Scotland looks like but none the worse for that. Not overly smoky thank god, sweetish malty ale with a correct if mild bitterness keeping it drinkable. Nice enough.
