3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Dark brown with a finger of tan head. Mild roast in the nose, followed by bittersweet cocoa and a little earthy. Tastes of roasted malt, earthy, and faint coffee. Medium to bordering on mild in the intensity dept. Ok.
Bomber from Bottleworks for $4.49. For some reason, this beer isn’t making the rounds around town like the rest of their beers. But I finally got my hands on it. Pours black (actually very dark brown but looks black) with and a small khaki head. Aroma is beautifully melded and light with light, aggressive roast, cocoa, toffee, and a light milky touch. Flavor is similar, very clean and hits the right spots on the tongue and quickly fades. Then it leaves my palate. Just a bit mineral, no acidity. Again, this milky chocolate but actual beer and not adjunct. I give Pike a lot of crap but they sure do know how to put together a good stout and porter. Bomber from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. No bottle date. Pours black with a tannish brown head leaving some spots of lace. Aroma has caramel and molasses, with some raisin. Taste is of sweet caramel, raisins and molasses in a fairly even blend. Medium bodied with little alcohol presence. Finishes sweetly malty fruity without a lot of length. Most of Pike’s stuff was a bit disappointing, and this fits in that ilk. 13.5 chinchill (5069) - South Carolina, USA - DEC 25, 2014
22 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours dark brown but looks near black and opaque in the glass. The small head soon reduces to a durable ring, leaving just a few spots of lacing.
Aroma: a mix of pleasant dark roasted grains and mildly unpleasant but very faint note of something akin to balsamic vinegar.
Flavor: better than the aroma. Very good and near equal bitter-sweet balance but lacks complexity.
Feel; Medium-light carbonation; medium-light body.

Bottle from Total Wine. Brown/black with lasting tan head and lace. Roasty woody chocolate earthy spicy aroma with hints of fruity booze. Roasty fruity plummy coffee and chocolate sweetness with some roasty bitterness and smokey ashy finish. Medium body. Fairly creamy. Too fruity for my tastes. BUt still good. Appearance: very dark brown with a thick, creamy medium tan head, and nice concentric rings of lace. Aroma: roasty nose, with nice dark chocolate and slightly burnt barley notes, with a hint of coffee and pine. Taste: as the aroma indicates, with a bit of underlying chocolate and vanilla sweetness. Finish: lingering roast, bittersweet dark chocolate and pine. Notes: Great porter. Smooth, slightly dry, roasty, bittersweet, and well-balanced. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Beer Revolution. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head and a chocolate and treacle aroma. There is a medium-bodied chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a dry finish. onceblind (9858) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 1, 2014
Black pour under a lasting light tan head. The nose smells of biscuity cocoa, light tobacco notes and a hint of coffee. The flavor is a bit light but subtly roasty and a little sweet with some dark earthy chocolaty tones. Pretty nice but just a little too light. And I love how it smells almost exactly like the mustache wax from Men’s Face Stuff. BREWMUSKCLES (2696) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 25, 2014
velvety and smooth with a chocolaty character in a bit of fruit with a light pine like hop character balanced bitter in the finish with like intense dark chocolate, perhaps a bit burnt. nice malt throughout. Davhgbrew (948) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 4, 2014
Aroma of roasted coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is creamy and body is full. Roasted malt, assertive hop bitterness lingers throughout to the finish. Mostly dry middle and finish. Overall mostly bitter, but also highly malty full bodied porter. Very flavorful and we’ll done. DiarmaidBHK (5078) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2014
Bottle from Total Wine McLean. Pours Black with a thin khaki head. leaves a lot of lacing. Not a lot going on on the nose. Has some roastiness and dryness on the tongue which makes it fairly balanced. finishes clean. Not blowing my socks off but quaffable nonetheless.
