Tonight’s live beer review.
Obviously, its an AIPA, guess what glass. Good guess - yes a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice golden amber color with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace leaving a decent amount of lacing sticking to the glass.
The smell was a nice balance of bitter piney hops to some malts.
The taste was slightly bitter but also slightly sweet - it tried to combine, but honestly it didn’t for the most part. There was a slight bitter aftertaste but there wasn’t any finish.
On the palate, it sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation actually finished a bit smoother than most AIPA’s I’ve had, but honestly, I didn’t mind that so much.
Overall, I say this was a good AIPA for the most part. I’m glad I had it and would certainly pick it up again most likely for pizza night. onceblind (9630) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 1, 2014
Slightly hazy golden under a sticky and lasting foamy white head. Nose is lightly piney with an earthy lightly woody note and just a little dank-ness. Flavor is balanced and pale malty with some piney resins and a touch of leafy floral hops. Some light gold cereal grains a and a bitter-boozy ester round out the finish. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2014
Tap. Pours a hazy golden body with a small frothy off-white head, a bit of lacing remained. The nose is a touch buttery with some light piney hops and some light caramel malt. No butter on the flavor though. Just bitter citrusy hops over a dry biscuity malt base. A light touch of alcohol. Pretty well done Pale IPA. Light to medium bodied, dry finish, with fizzy carbonation. Nice lengthy bitter finish. Pretty nice effort, is this the new IPA style? Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - APR 11, 2014
22oz bomber pours with a clear copper body that supports a nice looking bright white head. The aroma offers up some mango, resiny pine and faint sweet citrus like gummy bear candy flowing into a bit of caramel to an almost buttery diacetyl note. The taste begins with a pleasing hop bitterness from pine and grapefruit like hops and some mango like fruitiness in the background. There is a mild caramel malt note that distracts a bit from the experience. Overall this is pretty good and it has a firm degree of hop resiny bitterness that is working pretty well with the sweeter juicy hop flavor notes. J_man (996) - Tustin, California, USA - APR 2, 2014
Dry hay and slight salty air aromas. Slightly hazy gold tangerine withe a white fluffy head. The dry hay comes through in the taste along with a wild yeastiness that makes this like a high powered Saison. Light tangy lemon notes followed by dry grassy and citrus peel bitterness. Ends on a slightly sweet note with lasting dry bitterness. Really nice and unique ale. Happy anniversary Pike!

Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy orange with a large, creamy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is earthy, pine, citrus, and herbal hops with light apple esters and biscuit malt. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting malt, light fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. seth_lfod (325) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - FEB 2, 2014
Extra in trade with Patrick... Thanks man! Clear golden pour with a massive white head. Aroma bready and citrusy hops. Taste is nice and light... Orange, grapefruit, very mild malt backbone. Solid easy drinking IPA. greenhorn1 (850) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - DEC 31, 2013
Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a small head and good lacing. Aroma is somewhat doughy, not typical of an IPA. Taste has undertones of floral and grass, mainly heavy on the malt. Short bitter finish. Not too impressed with this one. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - DEC 20, 2013
22oz bottle. Hazy, cloudy, golden color. Aroma of PNW hops, green hops, loads of grapefruit zest. Sharp hops taste, grapefruit bitterness, no sweetness, very dry. Over carbonated, over fermented, maybe is why it’s so dry. (3916) Cybercat (5832) - Georgia, USA - DEC 18, 2013
Pours a slightly hazy amber with a very thick and rather persistent fluffy eggshell head that pillows nicely. Aroma is more fruity than hoppy - largely apple and pear, but with an underpinning of Mandarin orange. Hoppy flavor has a nice fruity undertone, and here the citrus dominates the pomme. Texture is firm, smooth and fairly fizzy, leaving a nice hoppy finish.
Not to be confused with Space Needle 2012 Anniversary Vintage IPA.
