Very dark hazy copper with a light tan head. Earthy caramel with a decent amount of hops backing things up.

oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 15, 2016
Pours a hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty, hoppy, yeasty. Flavor is moderately sweet, alcoholic, roasty dark. Not nearly as good as some of the other Abbey Dubbels I’ve had recently.

3.7
slowrunner77 (12037) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 6, 2014
a pretty nice smooth malty beer) it has candy sugar and belgian ale yeast in it as well, to lend a further level of complexity and yuminess. very bready and sweet, but the hops aren’t totally overpowered. good beer."

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, clove, allspice. Flavor of light roasted malt, sweet pumpkin pie, and pumpkiny spices such as allspice, nutmeg. Plenty of spice character but also plenty of pumpkin. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

2.9
BeerandBlues2 (13304) - Escondido, California, USA - OCT 12, 2013
Bottle at home. Pours clear dark brown with a large, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is toast and cookie malt, dates, earthy spices and vinous notes. Flavor is malt dominant with lightly tart dark fruits, light hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Poured from a bottle. Rich amber color short lived off white small head. Sweet fruit and malt smell. A great mixture of malt sweetness, tart and mild alcohol presented in a medium bodied beer.

3.7
Luvystypotables (1960) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - SEP 10, 2013
Mild aroma of molasses, slightly sweet taste of molasses and malt smooth with a good malt finish.

alcaponejunior (438) - Texas, USA - SEP 10, 2013
A little strange, but quite enjoyable. Why this one is listed as a dubbel is not clear to me. I would think it was more of a brown ale, albeit slightly hoppy, and slightly more carbonated than typical. Flavor and aroma were nice, brown sugar, dark fruits, a little bit of yeast, and some floral hops. With a good smooth, medium body, I found this beer quite enjoyable and would certainly buy it again.

3.3
DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2013
Bomber from State Line. Pours turbid brown with tan head. Nose is earthy Munich malts, brown sugar, cacao, nuts. Tastes earthy, with notes of brown sugar, nuts, roasty malt, and cacoa. Comes off like a hefty nut brown ale.

Vacation 2011 - Seattle and Olympic National Park

8/13/2011: Pike Tandem-Double Ale... Aroma: Subtle spice; lightly roasted malts; dates, fig, red plum, dark bread and bread crust. Appearance: Opaque, brown color; lasting, rocky beige-colored head; really nice lacing. Flavor: Slightly smoky; toasted grains with just the right amount of roasted malt; mild sweetness; bread crust and a bit dry in the finis; their description of "baked bread and treacle" is right on the money! Palate: Average. Overall: Very good "double" ale!

Draught (IBU: 25; ABV: 7.00%; OG: 1.073) at Pike Pub & Brewery in Seattle, WA. Rating #275 for this beer.

Dark garnet pour with little to no head. Aroma is sweet raisins, plums, caramel and grainy malt. Taste medicinal version of the aroma. Ok, had to rerate. This aftertaste killed any chance of a better than average rating.
