2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - Pale amber with smallish head and not much retention. Sweet malt and fruit in the aroma. The flavor is a bit nondescript, really, and it has a watery feel, but OK.
OLD NOTES JUL 28, 2004
Light aroma mainly of fruity hops. Pours golden body with fluffy white head. Nothing outstanding about it. Easy drinking lager with hop fruitiness and slight bitter end. gnoff (10336) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - AUG 25, 2013
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2013 Bottle from a centrally located bottle shop in Melbourne I didn’t note the name of. Sampled on July 26, 2013.jdpeebs (686) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 10, 2012
As "Pike’s Pilsener - Oakbank Beer" at 4.5% ABV.
Edit, it was apparently "vintage cellars - little bourke street (chinatown)".
Clear straw yellow color, white head. Sweet, malty scent. Malty, bitter taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Grainy aftertaste.
330ml bottle and on tap at the brewery. A nice lager. Subtle hop aroma with a refreshing hop bitterness. newlagerbrewer (7) - Gulfview Heights South Australia, AUSTRALIA - JUL 8, 2012 does not count
330ml bottle. Aroma of fresh hops not much malt. Pours a golden yellow with thin head. Surprising, a pretty decent lager with a notable hop presence, medium light body but not much of a malt backbone. Nevertheless, a refreshing lager and high up the list for an Australian lager. (bottle - Pikes Oakbank Pilsener) Clear pale amber, no head. Aroma has some slight grassy hops on a rather grainy background. Light body, reasonable carbonation. Slightly malty, slightly fruity bright flavour to start quickly replaced by a slightly grassy hoppiness with a reasonable bitter finish, if a bit metallic. It’s an OK pilsener; easily drinkable, but not exceptional or very interesting.

From a 330ml bottle on 29/9/2011. The label says Pilsener, not New Sparkling (there is a separate entry on here for what appears to be the same beer). Pours a bright clear yellow with a medium head. Has a very slight grainy aroma. Tastes nice and clean, with sweet malt and a touch of fruit. Finishes with a mild to medium bitterness. Quite drinkable but far from notable. bluebetty (1021) - AUSTRALIA - FEB 7, 2011

Bottle. A touch of passionfruit on the nose. Well balanced - caramel passionfruit/tropical fruit. A light crispness and refreshing. Nod to Emersons Pilsner (high praise indeed!). mickmac (486) - Ngunnawal, AUSTRALIA - DEC 20, 2009
Bottle. Pours with a large white head over a effervescent clear gold body. Marmalade aroma and biscuit like taste with a dry tonic water finish.
